Some questions I have...
« on: May 21, 2004, 04:46:58 PM »
I just started venturing with terrain editor and I was wondering if anyone could help me...I know I'm a bit late with AH2 coming out and all, but I need someone to answer one if not all of these questions...

1) How do you put Entry points on CV's? (Whenever I create my own CV [Get one from the obj. list], then put entry points on them they end up spawning on the water...maybe I need to set the elevation? If so, what elevation should I set it at?)

2) How do you create a clipboard image of the map on the clipboard? (And edit it, etc.)

Forethanks for the help!!! :lol

Plane entry points are 46.15 feet off the water. Be carefull about direction and make sure it's tied to the CV.

A few questions on that...

1) How do you shrink the image down to a certain size/pixels/bit?

2) Should the texsrc file be IN the .map. folder or should it be a separate folder in the terrain folder?

ty again :D

I really don't know how to be more descriptive of what needs to be done than I was in that post. There is one typo in that post, it should read 256 color/8bit not 256k/8bit.

You're reducing the number of colors in the bitmap, not the size/pixels. How you do it depends on what graphics editor you're using.

this information helped me and was created by pokie
who has helped me greatly along with falconssWe now are going

 to make the Clipboard map.

Goto Settings
Map Size
Select 64
Click Ok
Goto File
Make Map
Change Bitmap Size to 512 X 512
Leave all the other settings alone.
Click OK
The whole screen will go white for a few seconds ( longer if terrain had more textures )
Exit the TE when the screen comes back to normal

Look in your C:\Program Files\HTC\aheditor\terrains\TEST folder
You'll see a map.bmp
Open this with Windows Paint program ( this .bmp must be converted to 256 colors )
Goto File
Save As
File name:  enter the name of your terrain, in this case   TEST
Save as type: select 256 Color Bitmap
Save
PopUpBox... saving into this format..........Do you want to continue?    Click Yes

Now we need to make a Folder and place it in your C:\Program Files\HTC\aheditor\terrains\TEST dir

Left click mouse on Test folder
Goto File
New
Folder
Rename it texsrc
Now move you TEST.bmp into this texsrc folder

Start the TE
Open your TEST terrain
You'll see your clipboard map in bottom right corner.

Goto File
Build
Then exit the TE

Look for the TEST.res file in your C:\Program Files\HTC\aheditor\terrains folder and move it to your C:\Program Files\HTC\Aces High\terrains

Run AcesHigh and select your TEST terrain.

Hopefully it loads without any problems :)

Fly around
iwon would u send me your email

By the way, this step isn't needed unless you're submitting a map for general use to HT. 1024 maps work without a hitch.
