Hey JJ,

Falcon 200FJ was IFR from Van Nuyes CA to Bridgeport this afternoon and was denied entrance into Bridgeport. They were nonstop and had to divert to HPN. I know Bush was in HVN but there was no reason for this diversion and caused a HUGE headache for their pax from California. They were not told why they couldn't goto BDR even when it was prevailing VFR at the time. Could you look into this?

Wolf

Here's their tag:  Arrived at HPN at 1620 - was proposed 1605 at BDR.

Wofala  I know that when Bush flies into Ellington (EFD) Hobby (HOU) is shut down to any non Air Carrier traffic.  Hobby is about 8 miles away from Ellington.  This is standard security procedures for AF1 now,  I'n not sure what the exact distances that the procedures require that an airport(s) be shut to all but Air Carrier traffic.

You pretty much have it dead on there. He flies to ya know But the Prohibited area eliminated the VOR 24 and 29 - but we were landing 11 anyway. Point is, BDR is outside that 10 NM ring from the HVN VOR. Since they were IFR and complaining of low fuel, as they did the trip non-stop, i'm struggling to find reasons why, since they had an IFR ticket into an airport that was outside the prohibited area, per SOP there should've been no problem.

Wolfala,

Sorry I havent read the BB's in some time. A few who have read it emailed me though:)

I was at the desk that day and dont recall having a need to expand the 10 NM TFR to HVN. I talked to the Watch Sup and he called BDR tower to see what could have happened.

Until I get an answer from them I have no idea why the aircraft was denied an approach to BDR. I could use the freq that you were on when you were told that you needed to divert to HPN.

We also need to move this to email or phone conversation as I have no problem discussing our operation with you but some of the info is not intended for public consumption.

In the future just call me at the desk, I believe you have the phone#. This could have been handled immediately.
