BAH!

Weeenies!

as the saying goes...

I LOVE NY!

I venture there along with my friends nearly every weekend in the summer. Late at night, 2-3am and no troubles, ever. We did have some crack head or something try to follow us home once tho. Dipped down into a subway and skurried off :D

New York is Disneyland.

Got the bejeesus scared out of me in Vermont (it's true), but outta everywhere, Louisiana takes the cake. That place is hardcore.

I didn't really understand the post, but I think NYC was beside the point. Sand - you saying that Udie is thinking about becoming one of them contracters?

IIRC, Udie was talking about going to Afghanistan or Iraq... don't remember which.

WRT NYC:

By comparison, Bogota, Colombia, reported 39 homicides per 100,000 people in 2002, while New York City had about 7.5 per 100,000 last year.

7.5 per 100,000 would make it one of the safer large cities in America.

It is one of the safest large cities in the world.

NYC is not what it was 20 years ago.

pffft, I live here...can walk the streets anytime I want.

You stay out of the wrong neighborhoods, like any city on earth, and your fine.

Don't believe the Hype.

The Island of Manhatten?

Long Island?

Staten Island?

They've all got bad areas.

By NYC I would assume he's talking about the island of Manhatten. It's prolly got bad areas... I just didn't see any. And for some of the time I lived on the edge of Harlem. Partied in the lower East side. Hell's kitchen wasn't. And Alphabet City was just a few lettered streets. I'm thinking ya gotta travel way north to see any trouble. But then, nothing's up there anyways.
