what will happen to us non AH2'ers?

i do not have the pc capabilities to run AH" as yet and i may not be able to upgrade for at least a few months as i plan to buy a whole new setup.

what will happen to the old AH arena and will anyone still play with me?:(

please dont tell me i will be subjected to endlessly killing the HTC drones in the offline mode for a few months, that might kill me.

AH2 will replace AH1, the MA will be AH2 only.

Could you get away with a simple video card upgrade for now until you get your new setup?

Have you tried to run AHII on your computer?

As the previous posters said... AH will dissapear when AHII goes "live".

LOL, wouldn't know about that, was just suggesting an alternative.  It might be best to post your current setup specs in the AH2 forum and see what others suggest.  Most times, though, it seems only a video card update will do it.  Oh, and make sure you have DX9.  ;)

Sorry to hear it bud.
Your simple question has got me thinking. I have been playing online wwll fighter sims for quite some time now. While reading your post i began to reflect and realized just how long!
About 8 years or so. It has been a lota fun. I too have been through a few "PC Upgrade Panics" and know what you are feeling.
In Fact, i upgraded my Video card about 4 months ago to prepare for AH2. Skuzzy was online in the main arena and gave some recomendations as to what he thought would do the trick. Again...Just his opinion.
Welp...I went out and bought a new ATI 9000LE 128 bit 128 DDR GPU and here we are on beta 35 and ive got trouble! Its not going to do the trick. Please be asured that in NO way am i blaming Skuzzy. He can only speculate with the game far from compleation. However i wish i would have waited.
I for one have been in a panic over this thing for 4 days now. And have decided to END the Insanity! LOL
Bottom line? I cant afford to play AH2 if it means any further updates on my end, im just going to have to hang up the Stik. It's prolly a good thing too, as i am just getting so weary of the rude sarcastic behavior that these online games seem to spawn so rampidly. Anyhoo...Welcome to AH and dont worry. If your an addict like most of us were or are, you Will find a WAY. ;)

See this thread posted by Mr Fork in the AH2 forum.  It has some very good advice about other things you can do to improve PC performance in AH2.  Don't give up just yet!  :)

Mugz I'm running AH2 with a ATI 9000 Pro 128mb that was not that good a card 15 months ago when I bought it.

Yours should do fine assuming your system has enough horsepower to run it.

What exactly is the problem?

What drivers you running?

grrrr you guys can't leave. MUGZ esp! I know you pain tho. I had to build a whole new system! lol talk about an expencive game! About 2000 bucks later and AH2 runs like a champ but I was nearly out of AH1 before that with my old system. I thought I was going to have to throw in the towel before.:(

Mugz cant you just return your video card? Or is it too late to do that?

There are some very "cheap" in comparison to others, video cards out there made by some good companies that will do the job. I know it...

MugZ, you were playing AH2 just a little while ago. 2 days ago. Its that bad for ya?

Anyways, I with the falling prices of older cards that will work fine with AH2, i think you guys will make ok. It will cost $ as always but everything seems to these days.

I was getting a little panicy too.  First time I tried AHII I was running at 5 FPS.  Now, without any upgrades I run at 35.  Still not playable due to small locups when the gus fire or the views change.  My guess is that HT does not want to lose any customers and he will try to make thinks better.  WHat I am saing is, wait until the final product is out.  If it does not work then, then upgrade.

Mech - I wouldn't recommend buying a boxed system, if that's what you're thinking of doing. The last time I did that (1997) I ended up replacing every single component within a couple of years - except the legacy floppy drive. :lol What mobo and CPU do you have?
