NO, GT. Your dog is as good as dead, and soon it will be time to start a prayer thread. ;)

As a side note, you might want to look into Veterinary Pet Insurance.

On a young lab it's about $30 a month / $360 a year. You'll get about 1/2 that back "automatically" in covered services that you have to have done anyway, like a rabies shot.

If you're active with you dog, you'll almost always "break even" or better every year. And if something REALLY serious happens, you'll be money ahead by far.

I've had it on all my dogs since my second Lab died of kidney disease. No insurance on her and just the diagnostics ran to over $500.

I've "made money" on these guys every year. Last weekend my youngest dog dove through a barb wire fence after some flushing quail. Late on a Saturday, we ended up at the Vet Emergency Clinic for about 20 stitches @ $425! VPI will pick up about 70% of that or so.

I'll be making money on these guys this year too, I think.

Just something to consider. Vet costs are approaching "human" costs in the big cities.

Good advice, I won't add to it...

However, you can get animal hooves, and steer bones just about anywhere, just boil them good first. They're better than the stuff you get at stores.

Stay away from the chix bones next time, your dog will be fine...good luck

look for blood in the stool, if none then your in clover,

but FYI I had a Lab 13 years, I heard raw hide can do the same damage, that is cut into the intestins, I never gave them to my dog.

I think the prayer thread would have been needed for GT's roomates if his pooch had been injured by ingesting the bones!

I'm glad your dog is ok GT.:)

Ummmmm, I've had a dog or dogs all my life, mostly Blue Heelers, but I've had a few Labs too.
Now, one of my favourite foods is roast chicken, I eat the stuff all the time, and every single time, the whole carcass gets given to the dogs.
I have never had a single problem with it yet, and I would be extremely suprised if I ever do.
There is a 'needle' like bone running down the back of each drumstick that should be removed, but apart from that, dogs,or at least every dog I've ever had anything to do with, can handle chicken bones just fine, cooked, raw, ( or still in the living chicken for that matter), they arent a problem.

Steak or chop bones I would be extremely wary of if they were cooked, but chicken bones arent a problem.
Raw bones of any type are good for your dog.

I have heard this about chicken bones before, but in thirty odd years of seeing dogs eat cooked chicken bones, I have yet to see one have a problem with it.

BTW the reason dogs are so much cooler than people is due to their life motto........if you cant eat it, fight it, f***k it or play with it, piss on it.
In that order.

Some of the things my Boxers have eaten, and subsequently crapped out the next day..... it just makes me amazed they are alive. :)

chicken bones are dangerous because of their structure. They split into very sharp and small pieces. So if dog ate them and he is still happy, you have no reason to worry.

if he were "complaining" few mins after he ate them, you would have problem.

When we had dog and chickens, long time ago, that bloody dog sometime raped some   of chickens :D
