Never did like the M-16 And I was Issued the A-1 model.

I would like to see a 30 cal rifle for the troops.

The M-16 is not 'grunt proof'. It jams when dirty, and inflicts non-fatal wounds when the correct ballistics are not achieved.

I would estimate that at least 200 U.S. soldiers have died due to M-16 malfunctions from Vietnam to Gulf 2.

Not sure how you can guess 200 in a statistic like that, my assumption that it would be a alot more then 200.

IMHO I think the AK47 and the RPG are two of the very (and maybe the best) best infantry weapons introduced since WW2 from any nation.

Spent alot of time with the M16A2 and Aug Steyr in the Army and while the Steyr felt like a toy and magazine changes are awkward until you get use to it I prefered it over the M16.

However a couple friends had AK-47's of different models. Taking it apart and spending a weekend at the range on a few occasion with them made me admire their simplicity,accuracy and harder hitting round.

as a person that has put thousands of rounds through an M-16A2 I can honestly say IF YOU CLEAN IT IT WONT JAM.

as a person that has never been in REAL combat I can honestly say I don't know how it performs.

It is accurate as hell and real easy to become very proficiant at.

Like I've said I've never actually shot at anyone with it but as far as the training I've been through it performed WELL.....not great but WELL.

PS magazines have a great deal to do with it as well.

It is so full of it in so many ways,

The Russan round is now a 5.56 (aka AK-74)
The assualt weapon ban did not give the troops bad Mags
Do you really need a side arm with more then 45 rounds ( 1 X15 rd in weapon and 2 at the ready 2 X15=30)

and this part brings tears to my eyes LMAO like if the mag would fit the weapon would fire hehe

All I was saying about mags in my post is that a bad mag is gonna cause the weapon to jam either way.

IIRC M16s and parts there of are manufactured under govt contract so I dont see how a weapons ban would effect the manufacturing of said parts because as I said they ARE under contract.

I'm no fan of gun control but this does seem like a spin.

Never got my hands on a Steyr, but prefered the M-16 on weight only...the L1a1 was the buisness imo..
