How to reduce the LA7 Population
« on: May 27, 2004, 12:19:30 PM »
Yup..

Iv done it,  Iv come up with a way to reduce the number of LA7s in the Arena.    This does not require perk changes or limiting their availablity in anyway.....

The La-9 would give the F8F drivers something fun to shoot down.

I asked before but did not get an answer.  If LA7s are so easy to shoot down, why is everyone complaining about them?  And I am not arguing that, most of the times they are easy to shoot down (for many dif reasons).  So, what is the problem?

wait for AHII, where the La7 has it's fuel endurance corrected.

It wont matter if they leave the fuel burn rate at 1.

My question is what the heck makes the Lala such an attraction.  It's fast... oh goody, I can kill them all!?  It's manuverable.... ok, barely (comparitively speaking).  Good immediate ROC when in trouble?  JMHO but the Lala rates all the qualities of gnat with a supercharger.  A fast pest, not much of a threat.

Several reasons,
First (and this is true of every plane) ANY plane flown by an incompetent pilot is an easy kill for a reasonable pilot.  Some planes(la7 is one of them) tend to be flown a lot more by less experienced pilots.  The ease or difficulty of the kill has more to do with the pilot than the plane.

Second, it's a perk plane in everything but price. The aircraft in the planeset that the la7 is closest to in performance is the tempest. (Subtract a 20mm cannon, a few mph of speed, and a smaller turning radius)

Third, Fuel burn, The Ah1 La7 has an absurdly efficient engine, giving it a much longer flight duration than it should have.

Fourth, It's boring to shoot down the only same three aircraft types day after day.

The problem I have with any faster plane is that they don't keep running after they've lost advantage but reverse as soon as its 2 v 1.

AH LA-7 was modeled directly from "official" Kremlin data.  We know how accurate that is.

Actually 47N would have lots of trouble with a lala..  ue to its long range design and greater weight the N didnt really have that great performance except speed at alt and a better roll rate.
