Thank you.

Neighbor kid is selling some good oak/cedar mix already split, delivered, for $100 a pick up truck load, however I'm not sure how high that stack would be...

Seems like a pick up truck load would be a 1/2 chord...a chord usually goes for about $120--160 in these parts..his price is too high.

Used to buy wood for heating when I lived in the local Mtns. You are right. A standard pickup usually comes to a little more than 1/2 cord. We did have a few guys who could get a full one into their truck, but that is a lot of wood.

$160 sounds like a lot of money. Especially up there where the big trees grow.

If it is a full sized pickup, the bed is 4x8--the depth of the bed is 21/2 to 3 feet. If it is loaded over the top of the sides, I'd go for it. Especially split (as opposed to blocked).

yeah you can get more than a 1/2 cord on a pickup.  That price is really high though.  Maybe if they deliver it and stack it for you.  You can probably get a pickup truck load for 25-50 if you are willing to go get it.

I have a 36-40 inch diameter pin oak trunk in my back yard that is cut up into 18 inch lengths.  I need to figure out how to split those suckers.  I think renting a splitter for starters.  Ive probably got 3 or 4 cords back there.

As I recall, part of the definition of a cord of wood was that it was packed loosely enough that a squirrel could run through it.

Ah, I remember now, it's the dimensions given above, 'stacked loosely enough that a squirrel can get through it, but not so loose that the cat chasing it can.'
