Offline Option
« on: May 27, 2004, 07:39:36 PM »
I know this will probably get a "no" answer, but I was wondering if there could some offline options for target practice.  For instance, instead of just having the planes fly in a circle around the base, how about an option to have them fly in a straight line for, say, 5 miles and then turn around.  You could also allow for the option of having them fly in a huge square around the base with longer "legs" on each side.  Or, perhaps an option to vary the planes that you are shooting at.

I am not looking for something with AI or anything like that, just something that allows for a little more variation and different training opportunities offline.

This may have been asked before, but I just thought it might be interesting.

I'm an odd sort. That's been proven over time.

But..

Practicing off line ??

I have yet to learn how to have fun practicing offline.

Practice online, it's fun.  I do it on a nightly basis.

Jeez, you guys are getting weird on me..

Because this is a Massive multiplayer ONLINE game HT has never seen the point to putting a lot of resources into offline.

Frankly I would prefer he doesn't.

I'd much rather have a new plane or feature than offline play via ai.

Its usefull for setting up stick, basic guns, bombs, rockets practise. If you want more than that head for TA, dueling, main etc.

He didn't say he wanted AI offline you numpties, he said he would like an expanded offline drone feature.

Personally I like the idea, I might finally work out how to fire those flak rockets:)

Exactly....I am not talking about adding any AI or anything.  Obviously there is a "track" that the P-51's fly in offline mode.  I am just suggesting that a couple of more tracks be made available and the ability to determine was is running on those tracks.  No AI.  No complicated maneuvering.  Just something to aid in gunnery practice and special situation (alternate weaponry, etc).

The main event would still be online and people would still go the the TA and DA for "live" practice.  However, this would give them a bit of something to work with before graduating to that point.

I would also like to be able to change the type of aircraft the drones are.

Somehthing like ".drone 2" would change the drones into Spitfire Mk IXs and ".drone 1" would change them back into P-51Ds.
