CVs: Do you turn or do you watch?
« on: June 02, 2001, 06:24:00 PM »
Tonight I got some hefty abuse (mainly from one player) for turning a CV when it was quite evident that without being turned it was going to get killed.

After being told where to go, I left the CVs well alone. They were both at the same field and within 10 minutes both had been sunk.

(To context: Having turned the CV and watching it zig-zag, DmdNexus proceeded to explain that we shouldn't mess with the CVs, so I priv'd telling him I had only turned it to avoid torps, that was his response; it was also the only time I turned the CV, and I wasn't even babbling like I am sometimes want on the radio)

So - do you take crap like this and turn your country's cvs, or is DN in the right to be yelling rather boisterously at me in ch 2 and private msgs?

As a note, I obviously do something that agitates DN. Not entirely sure what, but I guess I'll have to try and avoid doing it. *shrug*

You should have told him to STFU or squelched him.

In a situation like that you could always sit in the tower and turn everytime he tries to land. I would never do that mind you but the option is there

Kfsone: I have turned the CV quite a few times to avoid torps etc..  A few players put their handle in as commander on the CV controls, however, and go off doing something else.  They should stick with the CV or give up command.  A few players at least set up a zig zag course but even so the CV's get sunk a lot if you dont stay with them.

Turn it, warn them if possible first. But accept that people are involved, & you may get yelled at.

...Your boat, turn it.  I get yelled at all the time for trying to "think smart" with the cv as opposed to driving it to the earliest and most convenient location for it to get killed, the squeakin doesn't bother me  .  I do find humor at watching the self-appointed strategists with point rank take it away and get it killed though...now thats entertainment.

TG commanders have the responsibility of keeping their boats afloat. They HAVE to turn them if they are in trouble. I can't think of anybody having problems with this. If they do, let them yell. It's music to my ears: somebody is at the TG's helm

Cheers,

Pepe

Concur with above:

1. Announce that the CV is under attack, and that you are turning CV.

2.Take action.

3. If abused on text, use squelch.

Instead of squelching, film the harassment, and then email (DO NOT POST ON UBB) HiTech Creations, so that appropriate action can be taken privately.  While I understand your arguement, posting these things often lead to flame wars and the like.  We much prefer you tell us privately.
