Lag kills becoming "The Norm"
« on: June 02, 2001, 09:40:00 PM »
For the past week or so, Ive noticed Im being killed more and more often by lag.  Ive had planes on my six that are doing 90 degree face changes repeatedly, and just now I got shot down once again, by a plane that never pointed within 100 feet of me, and was 400-500 PAST me before a single ping occured (and it was a good 2 seconds).

My net status is always rock solid FLAT.  It is ruining the game for me when lagging becomes an advantage.  How can I compete with someone, if they get kills based on where THEY see my plane, even if they are lagged?

I was under the impression that hits were registered on the host side, but its VERY clear, that something is wrong.  I have seen many others complaining on ch1 about similar issues more often too.

Is there a host problem, that its not keeping up, is it cheating, whats going on?  IMHO, if you lag your guns should be inoperative for 30 seconds.

Noticed one today flying against a Yak he zoomed down on my six missing the the shot. I watched as he goes off in the distance about 1.7 and I can see his tail raise up but the nose seems to remain stationary next thing I know a head-on attack about to happen.

It does have a happy ending though I did shoot'em down

Guys, the problem isn't really totally HTC (and Applink's) fault.  There are lots of kiddies getting out of school, which basically means that the internet is going to be very congested for the next couple weeks.    There are also a number of DoS attacks happening, which may or may not be affecting applink's connections to the rest of the net.

(For some interesting reading, you might want to go to the O'Club and click the "Internet security" thread and go to the posted link at grc.com.)
