the '/' as he used it in a sentence means the two are freely interchangeable, that they mean the same thing.  it gives you the option to word a sentence so that all can understand it when you are talking about something that is known by different names to people from different areas or backgrounds.

for example if you where talking about a car you could say "it has a 4-cyl gas/petrol engine"  since the fuel is known as gas in some parts of the world and petrol in others, that way you don't have several translations of your message (in each language)to allow for the local language differences in every area (or group) that may read your message.

so, back to school with you.  I slept through most of English class and got that much out of it.

Actually I thank terrorism and greed for the rise in oil prices...  mind you $55.00 is not the end of the world for a tank of gas, when I go to Europe, we spend a hell of a lot more, and drive a less desirable vehicle with a smaller tank.  If you honestly feel Bush is the problem, maybe you should look into your basic reasoning skills.  Gas has been peaking every Northern Hemisperical summer for the last 15 years.  Now, with a war going on, Saudi Arabia unaware as to whether they can maintain security (this has been a prob since Gulf War 1) long enough to ensure uniterupted supply, you have a need less panic, and basic greed causing the prices to go up...

Not a very good president.  Down right disgusting how he is performing.  Unfortunately, for this country, we will probably get stuck with him another 4 years.  Another 4 years of him and his croonies draining this country's middle class dry.

As a people, not much we can do.  Kerry is the other option, which is not good also.

270 million people in this country and we get these two clowns to pick from for our leader.

And from the right side of the Mongrel House......

Ok president, did very well handling the 9-11 stuff (not perfect but who has ever really dealt with this kind of stuff).

Didn't do anything really to hurt the economy (like Clinton) so it is starting to come around.  Unlike some folks I rarely give any president credit for screwing up or fixing an economy, it rarely has much to do with him.

Still not sure what to think about the Iraq stuff.  I was over there, I will personally judge it a success based on a bunch of ifffs.  At the same time anyone who thinks this could have been fixed by anyone in a short time is an idiot, it took 25 years to screw that country up, it will take a while for it to get back in the right frame.

Overall a fairly good job, a generally honest man who is doing decent.  Certainly better than any of his opponents.  We could have had a better pick on the Republican side IMHO but we could have had a MUCH better pick on the Dem side (Lieberman).

I have to disagree.  Last time I visited the White House, Bush offered me whiskey, cocaine, his twin daughers along with his wife but never, never offered to show me his pistol.

Wow,  I'm drunk right now and you're stupid.  Tomorrow I'm be sober.  What will you be?

Woah, look at the big brain on Drunky, quoting Churchill....

Actually, they have been in Texas a while, so they are considered native.  I supplied material on Bush seniors house in Houston, and it wasn't built just to enable a tax break, trust me.

Hell, Bush Junior owned the Texas Rangers and was the Governor of the state!

Hillary just got someone to loan her enough money to buy a house in NY so she could become Senator-that is carbetbagging.

I was asked my opinion, not to debate.

If you want to debate, find some gullible hardcore political drone that will argue so you can both spout off different views of campaign issues and historical character facts.  There are many of them here on this board.  Im sure you can find one to fit your needs.

But to answer your questions.

Yes, I believe what I posted or else I wouldn't have posted it, and No, I am not union.

Have a nice day!   :)

and thats different from Chaney changing his residence from Texas to Wyoming(I think, it may have been another state), just days before excepting the the offer to run as VP, in order to skirt around the law forbidding the president and vice president from being from the same state?  exactly how?

You seem to be particularly humourless and not very bright, however since the written medium sometimes is not very good at putting over one's personality I'm prepared to give you the benefit of the doubt.

Please do the same for me.....

Personally I don't think it's greed that is driving up the price, I think that those that wish to hurt the West and America specifically will simply hit the infrastructure that delivers the oil.

The infrastructure includes the ex pats who work in Saudi for the oil coys - this is the reason there was the attack on them this weekend. Drive out the ex pats on whom the oil industry relies to keep the oil flowing, stop significant oil exports from Iraq and you have the means to increase the price of crude through simple supply and demand.

Western Europe is slightly better off currently due to the weakness of the $ - oil is sold in $'s and with the current high value of the £ and the EU vs the $ means that the price may be high in $ terms but not so in our local currency.

Having said that any impact on the US economy will have a major impact on the world economy - NYSE sneezes and the world catches a cold effect.

Would this all have happened if there had been no war in Iraq a year ago? I don't think so, it would have been better for everyone if Iraq had been contained, WMD's had been controlled through UN inspection and the basic trade in oil had continued at prices that allow the world economy to grow.

This is obviously just my opinion on the situation and I could well be way off base...what really worries me however is two things - when is it going to end? A year, 5 years when? and the long term effect it will have on America.

Retired Marine Gen. Anthony C. Zinni pretty much summed it up for me.  "He's a bad guy. He's a terrible guy and he should go," Zinni said. "But I don't think it's worth 800 troops dead, 4,500 wounded -- some of them terribly -- $200 billion of our treasury and counting, and our reputation and our image in the world, particularly in that region, shattered."
