Best F-1 Vid Game out there?
« Reply #15 on: June 03, 2004, 04:13:02 PM »
Not sure why logitech does this...

They did it with their red wheel a couple years back as well.  They release an awesome new wheel, and then instead of adding a cheaper version... they replace the good wheel with a cheap imitation...

Why not sell both models... I don't get it..
The release of the cheaper wheel usually makes those unaware realize how much better the original wheel is and hell they could likely increase the price of the better unit.

Have to agree with you there. Have always used Logitech Wingman 3D Extreme joysticks for flying AH. The first ones used to be extremely well made and sturdy. The new ones they have out now seem like little more than cheap junk.

After they get a model established they must go to the lowest bidder or something.

How do you tell the Old style MOMO wheel from the new version?

Hmm good question...

As I've never actually taken a close look at either of them..

I think the good one is MOMO Force, and the "cheap" one is MOMO Racing...  could be vice versa +) whichever you see in retail stores now is the cheap one.  They stopped the decent one too long ago to still be in stores I believe.

AFAIK the "cheap" Momo wheel is "cheap" only in some of the materials - plastic instead of metal.  I don't believe there is any significant difference in mechanism, electronics, or performance.

I have one that I used for about 4 months, and was perfectly happy with it.  I only got the DFP because I wanted the 900 degrees travel.  The 300 or so degrees on the Momo wheel is perfectly suitable (and accurate) for F1 racing though.

PS Jester I can sell you my wheel if you like.  It's in perfect condition.  We'd have to arrange the price but obviously it would be a considerable discount over retail.  Send me an email at mikeywaltz@mindspring.com if you are interested.
Kratzer and JB73 can vouch for my honesty in such dealings, and you can check my eBay feedback profile (funked) as well.
