Invisible Killer

I was just getting ready to land at 4 from the south and I was killed by bullets; note I heard bullets shooting...No kill was awarded. Nothing except "you have been killed."

now 4 was ours there are no secret acks south of 4 and there were no enemy planes in 4 sector..

WTF is going on...

Now this happened a long time ago in beta..and happened again today..  In beta maybe I wrote it off as beta or my mistake whatever.. today there was no error on my part. Just complete error in your game..


this has not been fixed or your testing me for hacked aircraft I dont know..This was  really bull... why try to have real life TOD if you can be killed by:

oxygen/ufo/predator/klingon bird of prey...

Only possible thing that could have happened is friendly fire but I checked 6 as I was blowing up and there was nothing behind me...


HTC please investigate if possible.. it happened about 0900 eastern on 3/5/00..

Also any player feedback issue would be appreciated...

I had an incident last week where i was shot down but the kill was awarded to a fellow country man that was near me close but was not the culprit.
No enemy nearby at all and no ack either.
Just bullet hits and boom.

Yesterday I had two incidens where I was killed from out of nowhere.Both times there were no cons close, one incident were at 23k other at 10k.Of course it boils down to if I had SA or not.
I had.
Main difference to The Troubles of DoctorYo (could be a title of a novel ;=) is that there were kill messages.

Might be unrelated, but I was in F4U yesterday RTB, a enemy 51 dove on me, i broke left, he managed to ping the hell out of me, got the "crunch" sound, checked my damgage, it said I had an oil leak or something, I was visually trailing grey smoke, but other than that, all my intruments said I had no damage, oil pressure remaine steady, no fuel loss, my buddies chased off Mr 51, and I RTB as if I had no damage :-)

It may be lag pings.

I had some pings from a laggy player kill me. It happened sorta like this:

I got in a furball, one of the cons was warping bad, I managed to kill him (lets call this con Fred). His buddy shoots me down, fair nuff. I get OTR at the home base (F2) miles from any traffic or where I had the fight (F7 I think), next thing ping ping ping - u was kilt by Fred.

Sh*t says I. OK, OTR I go again... ping ping ping - u was kilt by fred - again.

F*ck Sh*t says I. OK, this can't go on forever... ping ping ping plane falls to bits but this time I'm still alive.

Got onto Hitech at the time and he said 'yeah um' - or something to that effect.

I looks like AH suffers from space time continuum anomalies - so called Folds in the Net.

Yep Vulcan.. I think yer right. have had numerous occasions of lag death.. often as long as 5 minutes after an engagement; in a fresh plane with not a damn thing near me.

The internet space-time continuim kill. I like it.  ) Fargin aggravating; but what can HiTech do about the net?? Filters?? Time-elapsed system blocks? I dunno. Hope they get a handle on it.

It's not lag.

I have been killed quite a few times with nothing around and no kill awarded.

I've been killed flying a 47 with no one near just boom dead.

I've been in a high 17 same thing happens fly for an hour no one around then boom no pings no no warnings just boom back in tower.

This sounds a lot like a problem that plaqued AW for awhile. The 1st time I experienced it I was on the "good" side of the equation. I was in a 190 back in my RR dweeb days and flying around bout 18k or so and saw a slow spit in my low 2..slid in and bounced him..no reaction from him at all..repeated bout 3-4 times with 1 or 2 ..wow where you come from??...then caught someone who said they literally were wheels down, and how i get thru ack..I said hmmm, got you at 15k...anyway somehow my connection went bad but i was still playing with everyone more or less at point where my FE had em when i went south..wasnt a full disco, some kind of serious packet loss.

i can give you an example of what happened to me one time in aw3. upped in a 51 was tooling along as spot a low con zoom in on him and he is sitting still in mid air. make a pass and boom. couple minutes later spot another con zoom in on him he is the same way. what was happening was i was flying around but no one esle was. finally figure out that every time i took off where ever any plane was at that time that is where they froze. tech ppl told me my connection was screwed !

DrYO, almost the same thing happend to me yesterday.

I also saw some people talking about "becoming invisible". Maybe totally unrelated, and a misunderstanding, maybe they meant invinsible?

Anyway, it was kind of strange being shot down all of the sudden from nowhere. No kills awarded either. Was flying at 7-9K. Could be AAC?

I was shot down in a B-26 about four nights ago.  There was a kill award, and I forget who got the kill.  I was on the F3 view, look back, when I noticed tracers comming out from around my aircraft.  I was at the Extreme distance and was watching the High 6 of the B-26, and the Tracers erupted all around my aircraft.  Well I jumped to the Rear gunner position, and watched tracers originating from Nowhere/Nothing, but close t my plane.

Then I got shot down.

I didn't see the plane, but I did see the bullets (Tracers.)

Afterward, I asked the guy who got the kill where he came from, he said High Six.  I said that I wished I had taken a screenshot cause his plane wasn't where the bullets (Tracers) were comming from.

No screenshot, no evidence, no Bug Report.

This is though the third time something like this happend.

I’ve experienced that quirk, once I engaged in a Ho we merged and passed got the pings about 3 minutes later and died. Now contrary to popular belief I avoid Ho’s. Seems fast cons are somewhat penalized in AH. Heh, I can’t count the number of times I’ve Ho’ed ppl and landed good solid burst at D 8-9 just to watch the AC disintegrate while it passed me and boom I’m dead go figure. Confirming this after one day I was up against Nate and Superfly I Ho’d both of them twice each and killed both but I never heard a ping.
I know the latter was a lttle off topic but just some input

I had 3 similar incidents:

First was in early beta. I avoided HO with Spit who clearly went for it. Now, few people could hit me while I pass few hundred yards to the side and below them, at 350 mph IAS. However, I saw him fire. Minutes later, while I was watching him some d30-40 behind me, I got pings and was killed by the guy. OK, net lag and stuff. Now, I take off from field far away, no cons in sector. Just as I took off, ping ping ping, I get killed again by the same guy.

Next was in this version. I was at 15k over F7, con I just chased dove into ack. I checked all my views and radar, no other cons around. I went to type on radio channel, then ping ping ping, dead. No kill awarded. Note that I never entered ack range there.

Third was yesterday. My conection was bad, beacons popping every now and then. Met a Spit, hit him on deflection shot, nothing. Hit him hard on next pass, filled him with bullets hard, nothing again. Now I got a bit pissed and accepted a HO. Just as he came to some 1000 yards, he disintegrated

Had a similar problem here a few weeks ago.

I had just been shot down W of 13 which the Bishops owned.  I was sent back to the tower and replaned.  No sooner did I leave the runway that i heard the pings and then was dead.  I scratched my head, said WTF and then looked around F13 from the tower.  No sign of any enemy at all.  

I replaned and again no sooner did I leave F1 that I heard the pings and ended up dead.  It was the same pilot who got the kill the first time.  I then asked said pilot where how he killed me and he said I was uppin from F1????  HUH?  I KNOW I had just taken off from F13.  A couple other pilots said they too saw me taking off from F1 so apparently what I saw was my plane being displayed at F1 for some reason.  When i left the game and came back and upped from F13 again, I was able to take off with no problem (after asking if i was visible at F1 this time    ).

Bug.
