Ki-61-Tei of the 18th Sentai (Finished)
« on: June 02, 2004, 07:52:34 AM »
The Ki-61-Tei, of  1st Lt. Fukunaga, is now finished.

Please excuse the small sized rudder markings - it was inevitable due to the problems exisiting with the way rudder texture is skinned.

Also, the "Tsurugi" Hiragana, will be removed in the submitted BMPs due to the fact it is mirrored in the opposite fuselage.

If any Japanese fans wish to make a suggestion on a creative(but historical feeling) marking/image to take place of the "Tsurugi" text, please do not hesitate to suggest.

Yet another awesome skin that makes my work look like an institutionalized 3 year old got loose with the Crayons!

That is just too much Kweassa!

Only recently come to appreciate the Ki-61 - a fantastic skin for a fantastic ride.

I have a question for you history buffs is the version modeled here the inline or radial?

-- never mind stupid question - it's in line - does anyone have an image of the radial engine variant?

Ah well, writings being a mirror image on the skin is not a matter of Japanese text... this is a wish I guess but perhaps it can be handled the way the squad logo is handled.  That appears only on one side of the fuselage, perhaps writings can be handled in a manner like that... but that would take a major re-write into how the skins are handled... perhaps in AH3?

Nice!

I wish this was the default instead of the clown-tail scheme that makes the Ki-61 such a sitting duck.

just a comment from the peanut gallery... i've read japanese planes expressed severe paint chipping due to the poor quality of paint they used...

Initially, I had thought of that when the scratching process was over. But the finished product looked like the Ki-61 was dragged through a sand desert with a tow truck.. so I thought, "what the hell, let's give it a nice, young look". About 40% of peeling was removed.

Yes I do. Which PSPs are you interested in? The original, or the template?
