Anti-G Suits in WWII?
« on: June 03, 2004, 09:50:03 PM »
I'm just curious about anti-g suits used during WWII.  I've found that the US tested the air filled "Berger Suit" around 1944.  The British had a water filled suit called the "Frank Suit" around the same time frame.

Did the Luftwaffe have g-suits and if so is there any info out there as to when they were put in use.

I'm curious if this should be a factor on what airframe you fly or if this is already incorporated into the game in all airframes.

The U.S. did more than just test Berger G-3 g-suits, they were issued throughout the AAF beginning in June of 1944. This innovation gave American pilots a significant advantage in high-speed maneuvering.

HTC, to be historically accurate, this should be modeled for the late-war American fighters (P-51D, P-38L and P-47D-40). You may have already done so based upon my one flight in the AH2 P-51D (it is much more lethal than the AH1 version).

Naturally, their will be some serious howling by some should this be done. But, the fact remains that the Berger type G-3 Anti-G-Suit was standard issue throughout the ETO/MTO by the summer of 1944.

I don't see any difference in the P51D, WW, except for skins and bump-mapping. It flies the same and guns the same. Only the ground handling is different. You can still fly the plane by trims, and rockets can still kill acks without having to come into the ack umbrella.

Fuel management is more important, too.
