That's an awful lot of stress on the nose gear if its real.

I'm guessing a very large unmanned model.

I'd seen the first one b4, but didn't know where it was. It's an incredible feat that the pilot was able to bring it in like that. I bet his left leg was cramped for days after that. Not to mention the pucker factor.

Kai Tak, Hong Kong. It was legendary for its difficult approach. I don't think its open anymore. I think they built a newer airport and used the Kai Tak land for office buildings and apartments. The nickname was "Kai Tak Heart Attack".

Yeah no chit..I was in a landing like that on April 21 in MPLs...tornado warnings all over the region, and I look out the left window (I was on the aisle on the right) and I saw the runway we were trying to land on...not fun

From what i've heard that is the standard approach on that runway. I guess there's winds or somthing blocking a strait approach or somthing....cant remember.

I've flown into Kai Tak many times as a passenger in 747's. It's always fun to fly with someone who had never been to HK before and watch their reaction as they look at the window and see people hanging their laundry on the balconies of the apartment high rises that you're flying in between.

The new airport, while much better, lacks that certain "charm" that Kai Tak had.

that first one looks like the pilot had crossed controls to slow himself down, then correct the crab motion with the rudder right before touchdown. Ive done the same in a C172, didnt think the jumbos did that though.
