I'm not sure if this is a isolated happening, but the buff drones don't seem to register damage properly. I've tested it out by sneaking up on a Lancaster drone, and fired only 30mm shots from 200 yards.
Strangely, after the 10th shot hit the fuselage area the drone finally exploded.
