« on: June 05, 2004, 11:28:22 AM »
Ok

I've reworked the 205 and tried to make it looking a bit older. I stonewahed it, i trahed it trough the dirt and now it's done ... i'm done as well :)  :)

cya, airmess

---------------

Hi all

I've got a message from HT to do some rework on the lines and dots (and scuffers .. what ever that means) on my former 205 skin. I hope it's correct now. I'll send it to HT for sumbission and hope they'll get it now.

cheers

Nice job, Messy

Aber die Motorhaube sieht so aus als käme sie gerade aus der Lackiererei.

Looks good.  Glad someone is working on some of the less common planes.

A sugestion airmess.

Not really much, since its clear that you're way better than me in skinning stuff ;) but I deem that what HT and co. wants is a plane that looks like it's seen some service time - maybe 6 months~ year or so.

For instance, a suggestion, by looking at the pics:

 Where would scuffs or smudges manifest? Typically at some places, like;

* the broad top surface of the wings: When small stone chips, grainy sand collide and bounce as the plane flies, these leave a sharp line of scratch in the direction of the leading edge->trailing edge.

* wingroots: also very characteristic of WW2 planes, as mechanics and pilots regularly step over these parts to enter the plane.

* canopy frame: near the adjacent areas of the canopy and the fuselage - lots of metal contact as the canopy opens and closes, which tears away the paint.

* moveable joints: ailerons, elevators, flaps and such - paints are chipped off folowing the joint line.

* leading edges of the wings and horizontal/vertical stabs: these are the areas where the wind meets the plane with the most friction.

* dust or mud: typically seen around the gears and underbelly of the plane.

* leaking drops of oil: also commonly visible at the underbelly

* exhaust smoke smudges: the exhaust ports seem very clean - as the engine fires up, almost all WW2 planes spew black smoke through these ports, even flames! in some cases. This leaves a distinct black trail of smoke at the exhaust ducts/pipes/ports.

Add in some of them, and I think it'll be immediately accepted - the 205 looks absolutely brilliant!

For that action worn look I found Compans is doing excellent on his skins. Not same sim, but just for ideas:

One one thing you're right ... the plane needs to be looking a bit more used like you've mentioned ... but that i'm way better than you is "EXAGERATED".

I'm trying to add those elements you've mentioned (and i'm really not good in that). Somehow i dont have a good hand for doing those scratches etc.

I'll try the next days and'll see what it gives. If i cant handle it i would appreciate if yoiu would make the finish. That brings Pyro the challenge to declare "Mc205 by airmess & kweassa" :)

cya and thanks for the input
