Frame Rate Drop after Patch...
« on: June 07, 2004, 12:25:05 AM »
Prior to the patch I had no issues with my frame rates.  I was steadily above 60 now I can only get that when nothing is near me.  I've taken my sliders and shoved the all the way to the right.  I've lowered my amount of textures. I have no clue whats up with this.  I'm also now getting white blocks when bringing up the map or initially launching an aircraft.  I wasn't having this problem prior to the latest patch.

The same.

Personally, the last beta was absolutely perfect with the frame rate. Incredibly smooth..

and then, with the coming of Beta39, everything goes haywire.

That discribes what's happening to me except I'm also seeing white or yellow blocks painted before each set of text display for the icons, auto takeoff, the gunsight glass and parts of the clipboard. I've even seen the mouse cursor drawn this way.  Once the text etc. is drawn, it calms down.

Beta 39 came out while I was in the arena, lots of things started going wrong until I finally had a hard lockup with lots of cpu protests upon hitting the restart button i.e. insert boot disk!
Easy in-game again.

Cobra I believe we spoke in AH arena bout this.

Try this...

Open your display properties, click on the settings tab, click on advanved.
Click on the 3d tab. (You should be running catylyst 4.5 driver) If not d/l it here. http://www.atitech.ca/support/drivers/winxp/radeonwdm-xp.html?type=xp&prodType=graphic&prod=productsXPdriver&submit.x=16&submit.y=7
Check the use custom settings box, click the custom button.
Anti aliasing use App preference.
Anisotropic filtering use App preference
Texture and Mipmap, set both to performance by moving the slider.
Wait for verticle sync, turn it off, slider to far left.
TRUFORM App preference, slider far right.

Agreed!

Beta 39 couldn't be worse!  After looking at Beta 38, I decided to have squad night in AH2 last night.  Beta 38 was excellent.  I had 2 members promptly quit.

Members complained of:

Stuttery mess with mini lockups

Big white block over gunsights and over Instrument panels

Bad FRs over fields

Custom Skins not working unless very very close.

Fuel Multiplier is goofy (unrealistic)

HTC - Please go back to Beta 38.  Take a big deep breath and relax.  I don't know what the hurry is but this SOUP ain't ready!  You rush this change over and you're going to lose "Big Time".

Dracon, how about you just tell me what you see , and let the programing discisions to me.

There were some major changes in both 38 and 39. These realy are needed to lower the studdering issues. It happen to have a few bugs, thats why it is still called beta.

Understand your concerns Dragon, quite a few of us are conscerned about the rush to release.
Still getting all the things described in this thread and others plus -

Since when can F6F/P47 take a hit from osty and keep on flying, witnessed by myself, karaya and waffle last night at P21.

TBM getting pings from rear gun at 1K! while doing 500+.

109/190 doing serious damage from >800 when effective range for their cannon is around 400.

Ponys doing 180 flat turns and gaining e.

Round ballistics seem way hosed, drop off for hispanos is ridiculous.

etc etc etc

Actually the Fuel burn Multiplier is exactly the same, whats changed slightly on most planes is the more realiatic impact of MP and rpm and the display of that info on the E6B. It's a welcome change and we still have an over simplified engine management system so this at least shouldn't be a cause for complaint.
Easy in-game again.

So a 37mm round is supposed to blow up what are arguably two of the most survivable piston engined fighters built during WW2?

We have 35 fully active Mafia members, Wizeguys/Enforcers. I wouldnt want to lose a single one. But many are having video/upgrade issues, and may have to leave. :(
PS.the Upgrade issues are on machine's that are well above the "Bench Mark" machine. A "playable" game in the opinion of everyone i talk to wuld be one that can be played right from a fresh D/L and install. ie. All settings at default no muss no fuss and absolutly NO DE-Tuning of video cards and or Dumbing down the Game Graphic settings. :( (slider porkage). With sliders all at Max performance the Base Capture game is porked. You have to be well within ack range before you can ID a Strat target and the ACK can be attacked with ones propeller only. :rofl
Come to think of it. Fuel strat set at 75% max downage? the Kweezy perk proposal, the Average PC running at Max performance. hmmm looks like a Dogfight Sim in the makins. Not much use for  large squadrons. Lest one wants to fight over the Vulches :D
The Min sys req. should be edited before AH2 is released. IMHO of course.

Roger that Mugzeee!!

I think many of the Squadron CO's have these concerns.  It's a wait-n-see ballgame.

Pyro's post: "We're getting close to wrapping up the beta of AH2. We anticipate the switchover to AH2 to be made sometime next week."  Convinced me to get as many of the 339th in AH2 as possible so we could sort the samll problems like "What's DX 9.0b?" or "How do I update my video drivers."  Sunday night was to be the showcase.  Beta 38 was smooth as glass for those of us that have been doing the Beta thing.  Last night did not go well.

My comment was more on the line of "Don't rush it, we've waited this long we can wait some more.  I was certainly not into "Stepping on Toes".  It serves no purpose.
