I know its been raised before but.............

How come the guy in the 109G10 knows he is up agin a Spit 14 or an La7 as opposed to a Spit9 or an La5FN when his opponents are not advised at 5.5k whether he is a 109G6 or 109G10.

Just as the 190 D9 and the Yak9U are told which of the better Corsairs they are in combat with whilst the Corsairs are none the wiser.

What is the objection to more generic icon labelling?

Spit
Lav
109
190
F4u
Yak
Hurr
P51
P40
A6m
F4F
P47

Particularly when generic labelling is applied to some AC types but not others.......

The Spit 14 is perked, Hitech said perks tags are the way they are by design.... So folks can hunt them.

I dunno why the la5 and la7 are different (or the 202 / 205), maybe HT planned on perking the la7...

All the F4Us have the same icon except the F4U-4, its perked. The chog was added to the game before perks and then perked later so it has the "generic" icon.

All non perked planes are basically "generic" except the las and 202/205.

I prefer it as is.

I would rather more generic less informative icons. Certainly at far distances, distances where an actual pilot wouid not be precisely ID'ing aircraft.   Friend or Foe is all you should know at extreme ranges, and that only as a gaming concession.

Did he really say that........... "hunt them".

Some times when in an unperked plane it would favour you if your opponent was wary that you may be in a perked one.

Engagements might should be like Forrest Gump's box of chocolates, you never know what you are going to get.

So he did ............ (appologies to HT for refering to him in 3rd person)

OK then as the La7 is not perked

(yet)

{why do i know i am going to regret asking this :) }

and there is more diference between a spit9 and a spit 1(not to mention a YaK9T and a Yak9U) than there is between an La5FN and an La7..........what objection is there to dropping the 5FN and the 7
