« on: June 06, 2004, 03:33:24 PM »
Due to some Adware and Trojan problems i had in my PC i reformatted my HD an Sat. June 5th. after reinstalling AH1 and and downloading and Trying AH2 for the first time, I am having the same problem with both. When i click "OK" on the Login Screen ....the screen freezes with no error messages and i am forced to turn off my Computer. Ihave tried unistalling and redownloading both AH1 and AH2 to no avail. Are you running a firewall or anti-virus program?  The freezing you are describing is Windows trying to contact the server and not being able to.

IF you are using zone alarm, try this:
-download the game;
-delete the ah2 entry from the program tab in zone alarm;
-ctrl-alt-del to get task manager up;
-start ah2 normally;
-when the game goes to access the net, you will see the z/a window pop up. click the box to allow access, then hit the allow button.

I don't know why, but I get locked up if I dont do both the delete, and the task manager window. When I use this sequence (like for all of the many beta rev's recently) I don't get caught in the lockup loop.

yes i have Mcafee antivirus and Personal firewall 5.0...but i disable them and end the processes in task manager before running AH. AH always ran fine this way before i reformatted. I will try unistalling the Firewall and Anti virus and trying it again. I have no idea what Zone Alarm is, but unless it is part of windows XP Pro i do not have it.

well after removing the firewall and anitivirus AH1 works fine...makes no sense seeing as how it worked with them 2 days ago , but whatever. As far as AH2 goes with Beta 38 while going through the "Plane Cache" setup during 1st logon...the clipboard changes colors like a kelaidascope then when it reaches the "Mosquito" it closes AH2 and returns me to Desktop. I will download Beta 39 and look for the suggested drivers on the Nvidia website. The reason i am using the currint video drivers is because they gave me a better FR in AH1 then the updated ones from the Nvidia site. Thank you for the assistance.
