The ambulances-for-terrorists scandal
Michelle Malkin (archive)

http://www.townhall.com/columnists/michellemalkin/mm20040602.shtml

The United Nations and Red Cross have been providing cover for terrorists -- literally. And American taxpayers are footing some of the bill.

Last week, an Israeli television station aired footage of armed Arab terrorists in southern Gaza using an ambulance owned and operated by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA). Palestinian gunmen used the UNRWA emergency vehicle as getaway transportation after murdering six Israeli soldiers in Gaza City on May 11. The footage shows two ambulances with flashing lights pull onto a street. Shots and shouts ring out during the nighttime raid. A gang of militants piles into one of the supposedly neutral ambulances, clearly marked "U.N." with the agency's blue flag flying from the roof, which then speeds away from the scene.

Why should we care? Because since 1950, the U.S. has provided UNRWA with $2.5 billion in taxpayer subsidies -- about one-third of the relief agency's total budget. And because instead of investigating this latest black eye-inducing scandal, the U.N. is blasting American troops for defending themselves against such outrageous tactics -- now being emulated by Iraqi guerrilla warriors sniping at our men and women from ambulances in Fallujah......

..........senior UNRWA employee Nahed Rashid Ahmed Attalah confessed to using his official U.N. vehicle to bypass security and smuggle arms, explosives, and terrorists to and from attacks. He was in charge of distributing food supplies to Palestinian refugees. Nidal 'Abd al-Fataah 'Abdallah Nizal, a Hamas activist, worked as an UNRWA ambulance driver and admitted he had used an emergency vehicle to transport munitions to terrorists.

U.N. vehicles aren't the only ones being used by terrorists. An intensive care ambulance carrying the acronym of the Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) was used to deliver an explosive belt found underneath a stretcher on which a sick child was lying in spring 2002.Female suicide bomber Wafa Idris, who blew herself up in a January 2002 attack in Jerusalem, was a medical secretary for the PRCS. Her recruiter was an ambulance driver for the same organization. PRCS receives financial support from governments and organizations around the world, including the American Red Cross and International Committee of the Red Cross.

.........."buildings and warehouses under UNRWA supervision are allegedly being used as storage areas for Palestinian ammunition and counterfeit currency factories." Cantor's 2002 report also noted that UNRWA hosts summer camps in martyrdom for young terrorists-in-training.........

 ...........
While jihadists gain shelter in its emergency vehicles, the U.N. continues to lambaste the U.S. for assorted wartime "atrocities." Not one more American dime should go to fund the bloody self-righteousness of the world's most generous terrorist relief organization.

I'm not sure what you mean,? but if it were up to me I'd stop trying to make peace with them and bomb the chechen terrorist into the stone ages.

To many good young Russians have died in that hell hole, I was visiting my in-laws and was wittness to two funerals in one week at one apartment building in one town in Russia, How many more were taking place that day?

Yeah, it's gotta cost a fortune to paint a huge UN sign and have some flags made...

Hell, if they were any creative, they would attack israel in trucks with US Army markings...

I mean that most of "humanitarian organisations" are working to help Chechen terrorists. They supply them with everything, care for their "human rights" and then start to bark when their bearded friends decide to hold some of them for ransom (a national Chechen sport), blaming federal armed forces for "not providing security"...

Bombing them to stone age is not a "civilized" way. You know what Grunherz tells me showing the pictures of Grozniy after assault in 1999. Noone cares that Russian Army waited for several weeks for all unarmed people to leave the city. They just see what is left there after heavy artillery bombardment. Probably they expected Russians to send conscripted soldiers there with automats only, against fortified positions...

Making peace with them or leaving them alone is not an option. If the enemy doesn't surrender - it has to be destroyed.

There are much less deaths now in Chechnya. Almost every accident is covered in press. The last report I heard was about a Federal convoy ambushed, 11 servicemen killed, it was in early May IIRC.

What I am against is all that "international organisations" in local conflict zones. Both in Russia and Israel they provide cover for terrorists. In both Russia and Israel we have local, domestic affairs. And we don't need any human rights freaks there. It's our own business, and terrorists get what they deserve according to our local laws.

Damn, they scream about "kidnapping" of Chechen males by Federal forces! Look, Militia comes to someone's house (they have enough information to know where to search), find illegal firearms, and arrest the bloody bastard, because illegal firearm possesion is a crime here, punished by several years in jail. It's what they call "kidnapping"...

90% of "human rights" issues are sucked out of a finger, and used in propaganda purposes and then as an instrument for political pressure. That's the way it is since cold war times... :(

Stolen? Lots of possibilities.
If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude than the animated contest of freedom, go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that you were our countrymen!

Well if there's UN ambulances why aren't there UN soldiers and observers to prevent incidents like that ?

Oh yes, Now I remember.
US vetoed the security council's resolution about sending troops to palestine.

Heh it's quite amusing to see americans *****ing about UN while all they do themself is hinder the UN's work.

And when I say "amusing" I meant you look foolish or maybe better word would be idiotic  :)

Sending UN troops to Palestine without US participation would be pointless. It'd just end up the way Bosnia did when there were no US troops involved on the ground.

UN observers don't prevent anything, really. It's UN SHOOTERS that prevent stuff and where do you find those? ;)

Because of political realities here, US troops aren't ever going into Palestine I think. Caught between shooting Israelis and shooting Palestinians is "no win" for the US politicians no matter which direction they shoot.

Terrorists are terrorists and should all be killed, when you kill civilians to effect political or religious change you should die.

A sure way to make any situation worse is to let the UN think they're in charge:rolleyes:
