Ki-61-Ib variant for AH2
« on: June 09, 2004, 01:35:24 AM »
AH2 needs a mid-war Japanese Army fighter. I think Ki-61-Ib (armed with 4x 12.7mm Ho-103s) should be added for AH2 and it should be very easy to build. Btw, the current Ki-61 (KAI-Ic) variant we have is a late war model

I would go for the Ki-61-Ib as well, I would rather see the two 12.7 and two MG 151's though. This Ki-61 varient would be easy to build and actualy is a better preformer than the Early Ki-44's it even out climbed them, and with the cannons has a better gun package.

I do agree though the the Ki-84 should be the Next New Plane for Japan.

My Short term Wishlist for Japanese planes is:

Judy

Ki-61-Ib

Ki-84

A6M3

The Short term list is inteneded to give the most bang for the buck and make it easer for HTC to do, hince the two varients, both of which would realy help in the CT and in events to adress playbalance issue so common to PAC set ups. The Judy fills the mid to late war atack/dive bomber nich nicely and it's abaility to cary a 500KG bomb for short flights will help again adress playbalance issues. The Ki-84 is simply a must for the MA and will defentaly help in late war PAC set ups for the CT and events.

............................

Long Term would add the :

Betty, Nell, or Ki-21 (any one would do)

Emily

.............................

Eveunatialy:

P1Y1

Ki-44

Grace

Jack

Ect....

............................. ........

 Some Figures from my Francillion:

Ki-61-Ib: 5m 31 sec. to 5,000M, 368 MPH @ 15,945 ft.

Ki-61-1 KAIc: 7 min to 5,000M, 366 MPH @ 13,980 ft

Ki-61-II KAIa: 6 min to 5,000M, 379 MPH @ 19,685 ft

Ki-100-I: 6min to 5,000M, 360 MPH @ 19,685 ft

You all notice we have the worst preforming Ki-61 in AH presently.

I realy feal the 4 12.7mm package would be a poor choice, a much better one would be the two 12.7 mm and two 20mm MG 151 gun package.

Well since both gun packages were on the same model, perhaps we can have a choice in the hanger like on many of the planes we have now.

It had MG151/20 20mm cannon. 150 rounds each on wing.
It is called as Ki-61-I-Hei (Hei means 3rd sub-type in Japanese, aka Ki-61-I-c) for sorting.
Ki-61-I-Hei might has a bit bad performance at speed and climb in comparison with Ki61-I-a or b.

Because its cannon and shells are heavier than Ho-103 MG.
Japanese pilot reported it tends to stall in the turning combat.

But it was quite active in Southern front.
IJAAF pilot loved it because its cannon had deadly power against US fighter and bombers.

I hope they add some Japanese planes.  I really like fighting them when flying the F6F.  It just feels right.

If they add some midwar stuff, I would like to see the F6F-3 added as well.  Should be easy.  Kill the roll rate, lose the rocket loadout, lose the water injection, add a couple windows behind the seat, paint it in the 3-tone scheme.  Then perk the -5.

Ki-100 would be equally easy to build i should think (anyone got a picture?) since it's based on the Ki-61 and from what I've read it was a late war plane but a masterful case of adapting a new engine to an existing airframe.

Their would still be I should think a considerable amount of work to be done to creat the Ki-100, one imo better spent building the Ki-84. A Ki-61 Varient would be much easer to creat.

I really think that the japs planes are weak and slow.  I never really studied it though so if im wrong im sorry. I just dont think Ah2 needs anymore Japanese planes.

That is only because you haven't studied them.
