WB looks very odd after riding around in AH
« on: March 08, 2000, 12:31:00 PM »
I think this has to do with human nature to make things look like what we want them too the way 2 dots and a line can make a face

but after spending time in my AH p38L and seeing a closer resemblence of what the cockpit actually looked like in real life I am a bit spoiled.

went into WB and got up in a p38 and it felt like someone was stretching my screen at the sides and squishing it vertically the way the 2d art is drawn.

funny I never noticed it before the real 38 came to AH

I flew WB's last week H  To H with my 4 years old, who flys WB's very well, with easy mode disabled.

Anyways, after flying AH, the FM's on WB's do seem IMO "arcadish" now...don't think I could ever go back.

Same happened to me when I last loaded WB's and AW3 several weeks ago. Neither looks or feels the same anymore and I feel in both cases when fly them that I am loading up relics.

Torque: LOL!  He does all the time, remember, as a trainer, you sometimes need to be "just a drone" to build their confidence up.

Another thing about our old friend WB's, notice the tracers?  Hehe, sometimes I feel like I'm flying SWOTL, but alas, something "new" will come by and bump AH someday as  well, it's inevitable.

Yeah there's no going back to the WB cockpits once you've done AH for a while.

For me the most glaring difference is the ground.  The WB ground textures are pitiful, and the terrain is very "pointy" and lacks subtle contours.  The textures are in particular annoying because they are not nearly as helpful for NOE flying as in AH.

However, the WB icons are still much better than the God-awful 200-foot flying neon billboards in this game...

What I noticed in WB is how difficult it is too count how many F6Fs are behind you.

I have no problem counting the Spits, 109s, P-51, Hawg 1Cs, P-38s and the Occasional Lagg, Veltro or FW190 behind me in AH.

Go back to WB Citabria, I am getting tired of your kicking my butt.

Wow! Having read this post I'm really edging towards a AH account.Having seen reviews of LONG time WB vets acclaiming AH over the longstanding champ WB ,I think I'll have to at least give it the 2 week trial.
Would love to hear further comments from ex WB vets extolling the virtues of AH.

HT notice how hard it is for me to leave the
labor of love that was once your WB(THE premier accurate FM combat flight sim).
Sir -Am beginning to believe you've done it again.
