Il2:FB and anyone w/Nvidia Geforce

card.

I use a Geforce 4, so I don't know if these settings will work for anything lower than the 4.

But I always thought Il2:FB was entirely too dark and wanted to brighten it to better resemble real life lighting.

So, I tried to get it to look better. These may not be for everyone, but I've tested in the various times of day (dawn/dusk, various daylight times, night time, and various weather) and it doesn't make you daylight at nighttime or allow any advantages (I haven't found any).

It definitely screws up your desktop, and will probably screw up other games - so save your current settings as "current" or whatever you want, and save these settings as Il2:FB or whatever (theres an option to do it).

Right click desktop, click properties, go to settings tab, click the advanced button, Geforce(whatever) tab, color correction, and set the following(after saving current settings!):

Digital Vibrance: Medium (third tick from the left)
Brightness: 107%
Contrast: 135%
Gamma: 1.47

Save as..., click apply, then load up Il2:FB or Il2:FB AEP and see if you like it any better. It caters to my taste, so I don't expect anyone else to like it. Just FYI.

1.4 gamma, wow thats pretty bright!

Maybe it's your Geforce card... I always thought the lighting was great.

I haven't seen a flight sim get the sunset quite right yet though.  IL2:FB's sunsets seem too yellow -  they need to spend a little more time south of the arctic circle :)

It is very bright. But I found its the closest thing to "real lighting" I could get.

My monitor is a Philips 107S and comes equipped with Lightframe2. That brightens up things to the point of damn near real in every game I've played (spare AH, it didn't look good in AH). Unfortunately, it bleeds to the right with objects. Be it text, trees, planes, etc, it leaves this area of bleed to the right. So after seeing the Lightframe2 in action, I had to get the GF settings to the same degree because it looked just like RL lighting. I can't quite get what the LF2 does with the color correction settings, but its damn near there - and looks much better than default.

Maybe its my card or my monitor, but everytime I turned off LF2 (its in the monitor's hardware, so I could do it on the fly by just going to the monitors menu via the buttons) - the game looked WAY too dull and greyed.

The settings work well for me, but I just wanted others to know in case they wanted to try it out.

Oh and Oct, if you don't already have this - you may want it. It allows you to replace the LuftWaffe squad emblems to make them smaller. It allows for the Swastika to be displayed and weathered markings. Plus randomized numbering (not really, it just reassigned 01 to 04 for example) for the LW, VVS(certain planes), USAAF, and RAF. It also allows for different fonts and colors. There is a lot of pauses when its loaded up... and I haven't figured out how to prevent them other than to not fly for a few seconds...
