Super Planes?
« on: June 11, 2004, 01:26:04 AM »
I have played this game for roughly three years, long enough to have become a fairly proficient turn fighter, but i have noticed that every now and then I run into a plane that turns SUPER well. I don't want to go calling anyone a cheater, but there's no way. It doens't happen often, but it does happen and I am forced to watch in amazement as the enemy con makes unbelievable high speed turns and end up on my six. There has to be someway of manipulating config files or something, cause I mean they are making turns that are impossible even with trim flaps and throttle chops. I have been on the game long enough to know the limitations of the planes, so it isn't dellusional. Have any of you guys run into this? How do they do it? How can i do it?

You obviously haven't spent your time in Aces High well.  I'd say over 90% of what people consider "SUPER" turning really consists of players performing lead turns, demonstrating impeccable timing, and using geometry to most efficiently gain angles on the enemy.

I have never seen any kind of turning in Aces High that I would consider unreasonable or unexplainable.  And speaking personally, I find it a bit hard to swallow when someone rants about cheating and yet protects the "cheater" by withholding his name.

Better yet, just film it and send it to HTC.  Posting about cheating here is bad form.

Levi, try reading my post first then be belligerent if you like... Angles and geometry?
I'm not talking about any sort of normality here, I'm talking about impossible turns, things an a6m does, but at 400 mph. Planes that can literally fly circles around you at high speeds, planes that kill you with one ping. I know ACM's well enough to hold my own with the best turn fighters, but I know when something isn't jiving. Insulting me or my skills or trying to bend a legitimate question I have into some crazy accusation doesn't answer anything. Honestly you sound a bit defensive :lol
Anyway, if somebody has a real response I would love to hear some feedback rather than cheap shots or paranoia...

Ask yourself... why is that only you have faced such amazing foes and not me?  Are you just unlucky?  When you state that something is impossible, you essentially declare that the person doing it has cheated or found some bug to exploit in the game.  It's as simple as that.  You can deny it all you want, but there it is.

I sound defensive because I think your ignorance of ACM feeds your misperception about the "SUPER" abilities of other planes or players?  Wait, does this mean you're accusing me of cheating too?  Your question was never legitimate.  You basically asked how it is that other players cheat to make their planes outperform you.  You can't possibly pretend it was anything but that.

I'm curious how you find what I wrote paranoid rather, say, than your little treatise on "SUPER" planes.

All these "superplane" and "cheater" -whiners have one thing in common: They never provide any film. How hard can it be to turn the recorder on (FYI its ALT-R).

When I played, it was wading thru a sea of slow, badly maneuvering planes (pilots), with occasional 90%-performance maneuvering planes that made me nervous because I'd gotten used to 75% being largely sufficient.

twitchy, consider three factors here:
1 - Elevator trim.
2 - Throttle setting.
3 - Some people do not like to take off with full tanks.

check your stick calibration, check the dead band and damping, etc.
the more you use , the less manuverability you will seem to have.
and check to make sure stall limiter is off, etc.  to you it may seem impossible, but its really not. knowing all the planes true max capabilities will help you in any fight.
turning on films and watching them later , in film viewer, will reveal things that will suprise you.
 hope this helps :)

i've shot down and been shot down literally 10,000 times.

not once have i seen anything remotely resembling something "fishy."

i have noted, however, that some shots on me in my view (and looking clear) by certain people, hit where in the majority of cases i'm in the clear... this i simply attribute to lag - which *does* have somewhat of an effect, but not overly so. when you time things as fine as i do, it's that critical 50-100 yds that makes the difference in squeaking by or getting hit.

oh yeah....

There most likely isn't 20 players in this game that haven't blamed hacking--cheating after seeing , feeling , not beleiving someone
shot them down when clearly the advantage was thiers.

Those 20 would be the guys that did the shooting.

I would suggest asking those individuals for some DA time.

The most difficult part of this game is admitting a toaster can beat
you.
Ego leads to frustration and accusations that won't benefit nada.
