Is there any chance for a transition period between AHI and AHII?

I know most people will run out and buy a new video card to adjust to AHII but for some of the customers that cannot afford one right away, it sure would be nice to have AHI around until they can scrap up some $$$.

It sure would be nice to have BOTH arenas running for a few months and therefore not leave any paying customers out in the cold.

Just a suggestion.  :aok

I was under the understanding that once AHII was released, both arenas would exsist for a period of time.

I think I read somewhere that once AHII moved to the new format ( no squads ) that HiTech planned on shutting down AHI but up till that time both arenas would be accessable. It was only last week did I see any kind of announcment that one would replace the other.

I am just thinking of the customers that cannot afford an upgrade on one weeks notice. I am sure that any dedicated AH player wants to move to AHII but for some it takes some "tucking away of daaa $$$" before they can swing a new video card, considering the ones that will make AHII enjoyable are a few hundred dollars.

Oh well....maybe someone at HiTech HQ will see this post and reconsider unless there is only enough bandwidth for one main arena.

It has always been the case that the day AH2 goes live is the day AH1 dies.

When you think about it, the transition period started a year and a half ago. It was suppose to be live 3rd quarter of last year.

It shouldn't have snuck up on anyone. If it did, I don't know what to say.

It serves no useful purpose??  Those that have no fear of the new go, those that hate change stay until forced to leave.

My_Def: Transition=The forceful dragging of constituents from one physical and/or mental location to another.

With everyone in AH2, we're all pulling in the same direction.  Issues will get sorted faster, then it's......On to TOD!!

I think it is safe to say that everybody wants to go forward and move to AHII. All my post was trying to convey was not everybody has a few hundred $$$ laying around and when a paying customer finds out that in one week his form of entertainment was going to require an upgrade, it would be nice to have a small transition period to enable the "average" customer the chance to gather up some $$$.

It would have been totally different if ALL the Hitech Creations customers were notified of a upgrade (via email) that there might be a requirement for an upgrade in a month or two. Then as Sunking said....”no excuse. Not everybody reads this BBS and it should not be a requirement to be notified of a major upgrade of this magnitude.

Heck...you never know. Maybe it is possible to let both arenas stay "live" so that HT does not lose any customers...or....maybe there are other reasons why the HT team made this decision.

All I know is I am going to be losing Squad members because they just found out about AHI closure and there is no way possible for them to scramble and get some $$$ together. As they were/are paying customers, they deserved more notice than a pop up window 1 week before the date their arena was to close, IMHO. Everybody thought both arenas would exist for a short period of time and therefore give everybody the chance to attend.

Placed a notice in MOTD over a month ago. To test your system on the beta to see if you will be able to run. I.E. we have been doing what you asked.

Hi Hitech....thanks for the speedy reply.  :)

Please accept my apologies as we must have missed the MOTD. The only MOTD that we noticed in regards to AHI closing once AHII went live was the one you posted last week.  Maybe a customer wide email notification could have helped get the word to the customers as, in my case, I missed the MOTD when entering the arena.

Anyway, I am sure the few members that are not ready to switch at the moment (hardware related) will make their way back into the AHII arena once the 'shakes" set in and they cash in some more beer cans.   :D

Seeing I got you here......Is there any chance you can leave the two arenas up for a short period of time or is it written in stone that once AHII goes live, AHI dies?

WHAT? A new version of AH is coming out that needs upgrades to my PC? Why wasn't I told, emailed, voice mailed, had a message left on my answering machine, sent a post card, text messaged, and for God's sake HiTech, you own a plane, why didn't you sky write it for me. Now I may have to rob a bank to get the quick cash i need to get the gear i have to have.
