Ju-87G!

just lose the bombs on Ju-87D, repaint it, design the cannon pod... Voila! You have the axis version of Il-2, hurri2D, ect.

Why'd anyone fly a slow, lumbering Ju87G, when 50cals on USAAF planes and 20mms on N1K2s and Typhoons still crack panzers open easily?

I'd understand its use as a Tiger-buster,.. but think about this: a free anti-tank plane which anybody can fly and go kamikaze into a Tiger with guns blazing..?

So if the Ju87G comes free, who's gonna use the Tiger? At least lobbing bombs and rockets take patience and skill..  but anyone can jump in and throw 3~4 shots of those powerful anti-tank shells, before they auger.

The only merit a Tiger holds at 50 point cost is that its a lot tougher to take out by strafing alone, compared to the Panzer. Also, relatively more resistent to near-fall bomb blasts, and is damaged only by direct hits.

However, if people can conviniently up a free Tungsten-core 37mm shell plane, then the Tiger loses all meaning as a perk vehicle.

 ...

 So, if the Ju87G is ever to be implemented;

a) the Ju87G should be perked

 or

b) the Tiger perks should be lowered

 ...

A very nice gameplay concession, would be to make Panzers and Tigers impervious to 50cal and 20mm fire. Then the IL2, Hurri2D, and the Ju87G would really become welcome planes.

Ofcourse, in turn, make the Panzer/Tiger damageable,(much more easily damaged than it is now when strafed),  when the pintle gun is armed, and hits are received INTO the open cupola..

 Case solved!

Hmm, I'd rather have the Henschel Hs-129, I'll see if I can dig up some pics and the stats. Ju-87 was outdated by 1940 and very vulnerable to fighters, it was never a fast plane by any standards.

You only get 12 rounds, it woldnt worth the time to spawn one.

As Kweassa said any 50 cal, Hizooka armed plane can destroy gvs better, destroy towns better etc...

Theres no need for dedicated ground attack AC in AH.

A plane like the 51 does everything better...

Henschel Hs-129

Dimensions
Role: Ground Attack
Crew: One, pilot
Length: 32 ft / 9.75 m
Wingspan: 46 ft 7 in / 14.20 m
Height: 10 ft 8 in / 3.25 m
Wing area: 312 sq ft / 29 m^2

Wights
Empty: 8,400 lbs / 3,810 kg
Maximum take-off: 11,574 lbs / 5,250 kg

Pwerplant
Engines: 2 x Gnome-Rhone 14M
Power: 1 x 700 hp / 2 x 522 kW

Performance
Maximum speed (level): 253 mph / 407 km/h
Combat range: 348 miles / 560 km
Service ceiling: 29,525 ft / 9,000 m

Armament
Guns: 2 x 20 mm MG 151/20 + 2 x 7.92 mm MG 17
Bombs 4 x 110 lbs / 4 x 50 kg

The B-2 model sported a nifty 75 mm cannon (supposedly the same that was used in the PzKw IV) that could knock out any tank in the world, at the cost of significantly reduced performance in the air.

The Hs-129 was nicknamed the "Panzerknacker".

"An interesting weapon was a battery of six 75mm smoothbore recoiless rifles that fired downawrds and to the rear. This system was fired by an automatic magnetic trigger that fired when the aircraft flew over metal objects. This system was reported to be quite successful."

oh and no way should ever be perked if we get one, the only way it could kill a tider is to get close and slow making it an easy target for everything for other planes to the pintle gun on the tank...

Mmm yeah, it's pretty darn crazy alright. Check this link for a view of the Hs-129 with the belly mounted 75 mm cannon.

Each 37mm cannon pod carries 15 rounds (30 rounds total with 2 BK 3.7 pods.)

by the way this plane would be usefull in kursk scenario (if they ever make one)

:)

Wotan, of course the P-51,P-47s,Tempests etc do everything better. But what if you only really fly LW?

I use to want this Ju-87 as well but now id really like to see a better german aircraft added.

since IMHO your one of the main LW guys here, what in your opinion should the next few LW planes to come be?

edit: not to hijack just curious.

6 rounds in each 37mm cannon pod for a total of 12 37mm rounds.  At least that was the load out for the Ju87G-2.

Personally, I'd rather have the Ju87D-5 with the wing mounted 20mm cannons.  Only because I like to dog fight in the Stuka and the 20mm cannons would make it the premier stall fighter in AH.
