The Allied Forces had named the code name on the Imperial Japanese Army/Navy airplanes.

forexmple,
A6M=Zeke
N1k2-J=George
Ki-61=Tony
Ki-84=Frank
etc etc...

Ok, by the way,
whats Japanese side "Allied forces planes Code-names"?;)

F6F=?
P-38=?
P-51=?

P38:  "Godzirra Prane"

P51:  "runstang" (somethings remain the same)

B29:  "ruh roh prane"
