The new terrain model has made GVs a lot of fun
« on: June 14, 2004, 08:43:00 PM »
I was driving an M8 in the Beta, defending A2 earlier today and having a great time doing it.  Because the new terrain model enebles vehicles so much, I think we need some more.  Here is my short list:

Sd.Kfz.234/2 Puma
Sd.Kfz 251 Halftrack

M4A3E8 Sherman

Sherman Firefly Vc

T-34/85
Petals floating by,
      Drift through my woman's hand,
             As she remembers me-

Good choices!

Personally, I'd now like to see(sorry the customers are never satisfied.. :) ) now a network of road systems implemented in the game, which IMO is probably the final touch of immersion that can be done to the terrain.

The coolest thing ever, is seeing GVs trying to make their way to enemy town by following roads that are paved through the forest! Incredible feeling!

If there were paved roads everywhere on the map, and it proved some sort of advantage (such as no shaking, or maybe 3~5mph speed advantage in moving..), people would use it.

I agree.  Ground battles are a heck of a lot of fun now.  As for roads, they would be fun.  Dirt or paved.

I would also like to see some new GVs.  T-34 maybe?  GMC CCKW-353 6x6 for field supplies on roads?  After all, that is what supplies us now.  M4A3 is also a nice choice.  But when it comes right down to it, anything would be fun with this new terrain.

Thanks again HiTech and Co.

And to all those that fought tonight.  Great Battles all.

Fantastic choice!

Do you think towed or mobile artillery would be of use too?  Perhaps towable by halftrack?

Cant forget the jeep. Good for recon, very maneurable, and a .50 cal mounted on it would be great.

M18 Hellcat :D

But seriously, good choices Karnak.  Sd./Kfz 251 Halftrack, although redundant tactically, would be a fantastic addition.

Particle effects:  Dust and dirt kicking up from behind tank/vehicle movement would be oh-so excellent.  Would make GV'ing much more enjoyable :)

It might be interesting to see a duece and a half (or the foreign equivalent) and the LCVP for increased troop capacity. They wouldn't be needed with current map-room hardness settings, but if they were to ever jack those up (in the MA, or I KNOW I would use the LCVP for events) these could add more depth to the landgrab.

Well, I think that artillery would be neat, but it would need a new system added I think.  I think HTC will add it eventually, but I was keeping things simple.

On second thought a good 5 ton truck might be more what I'm thinking... anyone have a good website for GV research? I was on a wild goose chase with Google.
