How about an Mitsubishi A6M5c Zero?
« on: March 09, 2000, 09:53:00 AM »
Having already thrown rocks at the hornets nest about the Fw-190D-9 and Spitfire Mk XIV, and received many stings for it (and, I think, gotten a few in as well), I'll turn to poking a stick in the yellow jacket hive.

I would love to have a nice green Mitsubishi A6M5c Zero.  Yellow stripe on the leading edge of the wing, matte black engine cowling and nice red hinomarus.

Anybody have any thoughts on this one?

Yes, I'm greedy, I WANT ALL THE Zero's!

I want the 2, 3, 5a,5c.
I also want a complete early war plane set to fly them against.

Good thing I'm a patient man.

PS, Hitech & co, if you ever do model the Am62, Please contact ==SD== , He's got the original blueprints of the A6m2's Carb showing that it didn't cut out on Neg Gee's nearly as bad as most sims model it.

I think, as the most important Japanese fighter of the war, it is an absolute must. No PAC scenario would be complete without one.

Of course, they will suffer bigtime, but everything does.   If you think a Spit V can make base capture a headache, imagine the Zekes popping up!

My problem with that is...EVERY sim has a zero, how about something in a  Ki-44, or Ki-84, something  "different"...not that I don't like the zero, I'm  partial to cranking, banking fighting, but I'd like to see A/C that have NOT been modeled in other sims here.(yes, I'm aware of the 84 already in WB's)  This makes business sense  as well,"Offer the customer  something the competition doesn't have, key to business success.

LOL TT, imagine how one could  run up 20-30 kills in one sortie while flying a  "Chicken of the Sea" if bullet placement was properly managed

Rip-

That may be true, but I don't think this has to be an "either/or" situation. Not including the Zero because every other sim has one would be like not having the P51, Spitfire, or Me109.

Some plane selections are just automatic.

TT,
the A6M5c is the one where they added self-sealing fuel tanks, pilot armor, a stronger structure and a thicker skin.  It was armed with 2 20mm cannon (don't know the model off hand) and 2 12.7 mm machine guns (also don't know the model off hand).  So this model, while still more fragile than the USAAF, RAF and Luftwaffe aircraft, was far less likely to blow up immediately than its predecessors.

The A6M5 is/was my favorite ride in WB. I think the only person who liked it more than me was Ghostt.

Nah, bring it on now, i feel like a boost to my kill/death ratio

Self sealing tanks - aw, no fair. So just a paper plane then, not a paper plane dipped in av gas

I wont need to use my cannons

Spatula,
they also added pilot armor, strengthend the structure, thickened the skin and upgraded the firepower.  So it isn't paper any more, more like cardboard with pilot armor.

Well we already have a Navy fighter, how about an Army fighter, like the Ki-44.
