Yahoo news link...about the fella hostage in Saudi.

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=514&e=2&u=/ap/20040616/ap_on_re_mi_ea/saudi_hostage_19

The aim here is not to get into a politcal discussion.

Ever see someone, and while trying to maintain hope, have a deep, underlying feeling that such person is royally screwed.

All we can do is pray for him and his family and hope that friendly forces locate him before another video is made.

The militants are toast and so is their hostage.  The Saudi princes don't like to be angered.  They'll waste everybody in a playboy-pretending-to-be-soldiers farce of a police action.

The saudi goverment itself held and tortured a canandian for 2 years for a bombing that muslim militants perpetrated. Of course they where tortureing him to get him to admit to the bombing so they could execute him by cutting off his head. Where was president Bush and the Fox network then?
This wasnt al quida. it was the saudi goverment. He had been arrested and accused by muslim miltia..not even the police.
This wasnt 20 years ago. Its was during the last 4 years.
Bet you a dollar that exaclty the same people are involved in this abduction as that one.

Gotta love those Saudis!

Easy, Pongo, you're talking about our allies. Besides, the Saudis did not commit torture, they were just having a little Q & A fun session. causing pain wasn't the objective of their actions...

really interested in what they did? They beat the crap out of him. Repeatedly for months. They mock executed him they sleep and food deprived him they isolated him . Then they beat him some more then sentensed him to die. You must really be one tough guy to joke about it. Bet you would think torture is really really funny if it was your or your kid or even one of your country men.
If I made a joke like that about the hanoi hilton I wonder how you would take it.

Weav, why is it that when a Canadian is subjected to torture it is something to be joked about?

Pretty poor taste.

Fortunately, I am pretty sure that you do not represent the average American, and so can direct my revulsion at you specifically.

Where was the Canadian government?  What did they do about the treatment of their citizen?  And why are you complaining about lack of action by the USA concerning a Canadian citizen?  Did Canada request US help?  Did the USA refuse to help?

Some context would be helpful here.
