I just wrote blah cause I didnt know what to type for a header. I think its good news.
He caved into you and you caved into him. What is the alternative genocide or endless insurgency. The US showed resolve and flexibility agianst the uprising. If your going to invade you need to be able to do that for the "successfull" outcome you seek.
I dont know. The US started "caving in" to armed mititias months ago if you want to call it that. Getting them to accept the chance that they will have a say in the country post US isnt that big a cave I think. If the insurgents are not impeeding the process any further and the the new national goverment has real control in the areas of the insurgency then its a win for the US. No doubt in my mind. And for the Iraqis.

Not perfect. But anyone that expected perfect from the invasion of Iraq was not thinking. Its progress.

It's a big mistake. The guy is guilty of ordering no small
number of murders, including that of a rival cleric. He will immediately attempt to gain complete control at the first
opportunity, using whatever means is necessary and
available.

He caved to you and you caved to him? Care to guess what
his word is worth? Or how long he'll keep it?

This is one of those cases where expediency bites you in
the prettythang.

I dont know. Not going to defend the guy cause I know nothing about it. But if you cant deal with muslims then you shouldnt go in there trying to "liberate" 20 million of them or how ever many there are.

Well there is a distinct difference between "dealing with Muslims" and making concessions to a murderous thug. Contrary to what the media and the idiots say, we are not "dealing with Muslims" as you put it. We are working with PEOPLE.

There are civilized Muslims, who, whether or not you agree with them and their positions, are not totally devoted to murder and hatred, nor are they so intolerant of other religions, or dissention in their own religion, that they feel it justified and necessary to resort to murder. Then there are people like al-Sadr, who is a murderer and a thug, regardless of whether he is a Shiite, a Kurd, or of any other Muslim faith. Or any faith from Judeo Christian to Buddhist for that matter.

You know, I really have to ask, if you don't know anything about the guy (and you admit this), then how in the HELL can you say it is good to make a deal with him? You know nothing of the situation, by your own admission, but you feel qualified and justified to comment on it. How interesting.

Kinda of a general statement for a specific and very dangerous situation.

This guy is out to take over Iraq and you say "Hey!  if you can't deal with him... who can you deal with?"

I dont' think it's "blah".  I think it's "Fan-freaking-tastic!".

This means that less people will die, at least in the short term (don't know what will happen in the long term without my crystal ball), and I think that's a good thing.

Well you guys obviosly know him very well, you have your full demonisation program going.
I am entitled to my opinion as to wether its good news or not. I dont mind being flamed for rooting for the Bush administration.lol

I dont think any of you know anything about him either...I dont think the Bush administration knew anything about him when they declared him an outlaw.

But I still think its good news. You must have had a different aggnda in Iraq if you dont thinks so.

A popular leader willing to cooperate? May be a really good thing. The only thing better might be if he had gained even more popularity before joining the establishment. Of course there will no doubt be many angry at this and may even try to assasinate him.
