Are you allowed to attack other players at will in that game, or is it nerfed like Ultima Online became?

I loved Ultima Online until the sissies ruined the whole game and forced it to become a virtual chat room with people knitting clothes and other garbage or "exploring" the now 100% safe, protected lands.

Earth and Beyond sucks.  It's been cancelled anyway.  Eve Online isn't half as cartoony as E&B.  From what I remember, EO has very pretty eye candy, neat space like chill out music, and a dynamic market... and mining.  Tons of mining.

The only way I could see myself getting into it again would be finding someone already playing to help get you up to speed.  Lonewolfing, just like in any game, gets old and quite boring.

actuly we tried Laneage2 yesterday, it seems to be a bit intersting.  But its more like Anarchy online not like things you speak about. But it is way better that AO IMO.

Anyony playing it ?

Btw in L2 if you will start as Dark elf, you should know that official language of dark elfs is probably chinese, yesterday we were messing in some far land and nobody spoke english there :D

Yes, one free month.  It's obviously a close-out so hurry. :)

Yes, you are allowed, but you better think about it before you do. It can affect your security rating and if your rating gets too low, you become open game. Right now, I'm far too much of a small fish to attract such attention. It's fairly complicated... I've seen guys with bounties on their heads but because I was in a "secure" sector of space, I wasn't free to shoot. I'm still trying to understand the criminal/political rules. I've got time. It will be quite awhile before I work up to a ship that is large enough to equip with large weapons.

From what I gather, EO was based upon a RPG game called Traveller. More info at: http://www.eve-online.com

Sand, are you working with anyone to improve your standing/wealth?  What options do you have, as a relatively small 'newguy' to EO, to improve that status?  I hope you're not relegated to small scale trade routes and endless mining are ya?  I'm thinking about giving this a shot again :)

lol, Aces High corporation anyone? :D

I'll consider giving it another go, especially if we can get an Aces High Corp going. :)

I've done some drilling, but at this point in the game, I have more wealth than I can spend. The primary goal at this point is just building up my skill level so I can upgrade to a bigger ship. The majority of missions I do are "kill" missions for the Caldari Police Force.. pirate hunting.

Downloading it from the EVE website :)  They're having a promo deal for 14 days free by registering an account at http://www.mmorpg.com.  Just registered - I'll see if this promo works.

Sand, Iron, what are your ingame handles, what empire are you affiliated with, and what are your skills and professions? :)

I'll have to refresh myself, but I think the communication system is pretty good for finding other players.
