Central Fire Control..ommg it ssweet..

they let me crawl thru the "tube" which connects the pilots to the Central fire control postions.."waist guns area.

I laso got to sit in the tail gunners seat..very very lonely place to be

Siiting in the pilots chair is liek siting in the Bay Window of the DEATHSTAR..what a VIEW!!!

Truly a sweet ride....

I think I may have to call BS on this one.

Who do you work for?  Because they dont just hand out rides on FiFi to anyone on the street.

I think he may be embellishing a little bit.

I can't call BS (just yet, but would really like to) simply because FiFi made a sudden stop at my airport in Columbus, OH some years ago.  We have a picture with autographs of the crew in the airport resturnant now.  There was crawling around in it and looking at things much the same as mr green described.  In such close conjunction with his he flew in (he bought a ride in) the B-17 and B-24.  A friend of mine flys Texas Raiders (B-17) and I still havent had a chance to steer it around.

Anyways...its great you bought your rides Mr. Green Black Bassman...good job...great use of dots...see i can do it too...yay...ok...bye...

Believe it or not, I taxied out in front of FIFI on my first flight this past sunday.

Thanks to the BBS guys for talking me into it, BTW.

Anyway, that big old biatch was here at Republic airport all this past week, up until sunday 6/13/04.

I have 2 sweet pics of her here that I took, but I guess I need someone to host them or something, right?

Around 10 years ago I payed like 20$ bucks to get inside "FiFi", she was at an airshow for the Portland Rose festival, and was alowing a few in at a time, but we only got to set in the cockpit, spent like 30 min in their asking all kinds of questions and sat in the piolets and Bombaders/gunners seat, that remote firecontrole sight was awsome! They had a B17 their as well and a B24, and I crawled through the B17, man it was kinda cramped in their, the B24 was cool as well, but "FiFi" realy impresed.

Watched FiFi take off from Brookley Field years back.  Waited to take the tour right before FiFi was scheduled to leave.  Admission was $5 for the tour.  I climbed up inside and checked out the forward cabin.  Couldn't go in back, but I sure wanted to.

That  is a beautiful plane.  I've always thought the B-29 was a beautiful aircraft.  It was very memorable watching the first engine start up.  The propeller spinned slowly for what seemed like a long time, with a lot of black smoke trailing out the back.  Finally she started up.  Then the other engines started, and I watched her taxi to the main runway and then take off.  The whole procedure took about an hour it seemed, but it was worth it just to watch it take off.

Did he say he "rode" in it? I think this person just had a tour of it. I spent 45 min. in a B-29 at Boeing field last summer, on the ground..

When my brother first started working for NASA, he entered the B-29 from the drag brake area near the rear wheel well.  He said that was how the big shots and important Army and military people  did it.:D

I dont know....I guess I just took the above to mean that the ride in FiFi completes his list of bombers that he has flown in.  He did say b17, b24, b25, etc after all.......

No .Im a sales manager......i donated 60bucks to them..there was no one there yet doing tours so ..a vet who flew them over japan gave me a Complete tour.....Although he did not clim thru the tube with me..as he said..Hell no..i cant crawl in tht thing anymore..lolol

Siiting in the Central Gunners chair and tail gunrs seat was defnlty the Hi light.....

Teh central fire controls seat is actaully a pedastal...im 5-11..and my feet did not touch the groun( seat is about 3-4 feet from ground..you clim up to the seat..and your head is poking thru the dome for the upper guners view..Teh way the gun sighting is set up is  space age for that time

kind of same thing in tail gunners seat..fully encapsulated  (pressurized)..my feet hung in the air...and your head was boxed in by armored glass....Seemed to me the field of view was really linited....lonely place

btw sling and golfer..greenheart..why you guys so parnoid..lolol...try to read my post more carfully before spewing

The "real" Mrblack would have said something like, "I'm 6'8, EX Marine sniper, 300 pounds of pure muscle"

So, it may not be him. :D
