wow, the noise to signal ration in here is PRENOMINAL!

I've noticed a few posts simply cataloging a large number of aircraft and wonder about them. I mean I guess its as much of a daydream as any other "plane wish" post, but when I look at the effort that goes into the campaign to get planes like the Ki-84, added, with 4 pages of replies, technical data, arguments for utility in the MA, SEA and CT, Anecdotal evidence from History and other sims...

It's just interesting to see the difference between the two types of posts.

what good would recon planes be? spot enemy ships, but what would encourage people to fly them instead of something faster like a corsair? its not like your gonna be able to earn perk points for saying "Enemy ships in grid #,# heading south"

It's my hope that in the ToD, MARPAT missions will play a role. In that case, you may not get perk points for finding enemy ships, but you could gain rank, and Hogs wouldn't be available for the mission, but SBDs and (potentially) PBYs could.

HTC stated that they were unsure how many of the current player base would be interested in ToD, and I hope that it is because it will offer something entirely different, such as the Marritime Patrol, and Recce flights.

Hmm..

This would probably fill out the void in the JP planeset...

 A6M3
 J2M3
 Ki-43
 Ki-44
 Ki-45
 Ki-84
 G4M
 H8K2

And this fills the very small void in the LW planeset..

 Fw190A-3
 Bf109G-14

And this, for the single, but gaping large big hole in the RAF set..

 Spitfire LFMk.IXe ('44)

  ...

 This for the FAF

 B-239

 ...

 These for the VVS..

 I-16
 Mig-3
 LaGG-3
 Yak-7B
 Yak-1B
 Yak-9M
 Pe-8
 Tu-2
 P-39N

 ....

 And these, for the USAAF

 P-38G
 P-38J

That about wraps up my choice of 'really needed planes...'

Kweassa,

For the RAF I'd suggest:

Beaufighter Mk X
Spitfire LF.Mk VIII
Wellington B.Mk III

That would give the RAF an early war strike fighter in the Beaufighter.

The Spitfire LF.Mk VIII has very similar performance to the LF.Mk IX and would give us a Pacific Theater Spitfire.

The Wellington B.Mk III would give the RAF an early war bomber that the Axis fighters could actually catch.  I've had the Boston Mk III literally run my Bf109E-4 down and force me to turn, letting the horde of Hurri Is catch up.

The only other thing I can think of would be a Meteor Mk III if HTC wanted to add an Allied jet.  It would, of course, be heavily perked.

What are the odds of getting both a n LFIXe and an LFVIII though?  Probably slim and none.  The howls from the LW fanatics would raise the roof :)

So do you do a broad chord rudder LFIX with a full span Universal wing that allows you to skin it like an LFVIII as the only external difference would be the lack of retractable tail wheel or do you do an LFVIII and pretend they operated them from England and not just the Med and PTO?

I'd happily take both since one could be a full span Universal wing in the LFVIII and the other could be a clipped wing LFIX with the E wing.

That of course lets there be a second batch of skins with the LFVIII getting the desert camo and Aussie skins while the IX gets the ETO skins that could include the D-Day stuff etc.

I was advocating the Spitfire LF.Mk VIII be added and leave the Spitfire LF.Mk IX out of the game.

Use the Spitfire LF.Mk VIII as a Spitfire LF.Mk IX in European scenarios.

Yep, I understood that part :)

Seems to me that if we have a 190A8 and F8, we could expect the same in Spits though right?

In particular with the different armament, ailerons and potentially wingspan between the normally fullspan wing LFVIII and the more often clipped wing LFIXe which also stands in well for the LFXVIe.

I don't know that the VIII was ever equipped with the wing bomb hardpoints of the LFIXe and XVIe either

Well at least I requested planes.

Not another stinkin' flak vehicle to hug the ground with.

You know what, you're welcome to have your stinkin' Wirbelwind. If sitting on the ground, doing the "point-and-click" type of fighting in an armoured AA vehicle is so much fun, hell, why not.

The rest of us will just stay in the air and fight amongst ourselves.

From HTC website: In the air, on
land, and at sea, the battle rages 24 hours a day
with participants from around the world.

So lemme get this right, if you request certain planes you'd like to see added to the game, thats ok? because it's a "plane" ?
But if someone enjoys doing something else other than flying and would like to see certain veh's added to the game.OMFG what a crime this must be:rolleyes:  Until YOU pay my $15 a month to play I'll choose whatever the he11 I wan't to drive or fly.
Sitting on the ground {yes thats where GV's drive} doing a "point-n-click" type fight?  This one I don't get. I guess your saying {please correct me i'm wrong} that GV's are easy? take no skill? You make no sense! {ya like the FM is sooooo real}
Futhermore, it seems you have a real problem with people wanting to do something other than fly? thats your problem. As if AH is some kind of uber "flight Sim" {which it is not}
Not sure if your aware but there was a lot more troops and GV's on the ground in WWII than there was planes in the sky.
Geez what a shame that we have all these people in the game trying to build on it and add more functionality & choices. Rather than hop in a plane {Usually a Spit, LA7, Nik, P38 or P51} and go furballing:(

Oh wait, must just be ME who complains about that no one else:rolleyes:

Well, how about the Me410?
Or the tank busters, Stuka with 2x37mm's and Hs129?
FW Condor with torps.
He 111

From the Italian side, the Macci 200 and the Reggiane?
And the Cant....

That should pretty much sum this up.
It was very interesting to carry out the flight trials at Rechlin with the Spitfire and the Hurricane. Both types are very simple to fly compared to our aircraft, and childishly easy to take-off and land. (Werner Mölders)
