Interesting story for sure. In reality, squadron formations break up pretty much during attacks, and it's every man for himself eventually. Is that what happened when he described outrunning the two enemy pursuit planes? Sounds like the situation.
Well, at least one thing I've learned from playing AH, is that's what I'd do, or try to do. Get back to a friendly base and RTB to stay alive.
There is nothing glamorous about air combat in reality. Only survival and returning home. It has to be the most dangerous and deadly form of combat there is. The guys who do it have plenty of balls.
