HiTech, about auto flak.

AI flak in AH serves no purpose other than to annoy your customers. It is totally random, has no defensive value and stops no attacks on CVs or AFs. Please make flak player controlled only. Please stop annoying your customers with AI objects that randomly shoot down players in a massively multiplayer game.

I agree with this.  Keep the AI light aa fire, but lose the AI flak bursts.

Actually, when I'm in a level bomber it adds ambience and the bombers are a lot tougher.

So maybe the AI flak bursts could just be targeted against the B-17G, B-26B, B5N2, Boston Mk III, Ju88A-4, Ki-67, Lancaster Mk III and TBM-3.  And at furture level bombers.

having the auto 88 is adding to the atmosphere and I like having them. They are also the only defense against level bombers. The problem is that they can focus on a single fighter and eventually bring it down. They never get the altitude wrong which adds to their accuracy, and able to follow a manuvering target.

It seems that there aren't any projectile being shot. the bursts are randomly generated around the target, so manuvering have no effect since there's no flight-time delay to the 88 shell. Simulating this might help some.

that would be cool add some 88mm guns like you see in WW2 near the field and just have them shoot up shells
known as Arctic in the main

i have died more times to AI puffy ack then i'd care to admit.

i hate the stuff.

i avoid fleets at all costs unless im actually trying to sink it. too many a 262 lost to it while flying and not knowing there was an enemy CV out there. just thump thump all of a sudden at 22,000 and 500 mph. then thump tower

now though all fields have it. that i dont like personally. nothing like making a 20k flight over a base to see whats going on, and "thump" you are in the tower "you have been killed" and noone gets credit.

though i do not want to see it go. i just dont like how it trains on 1 guy. if you are the first to enter it's range then 30 seconds later somone else comes into range, it stays on you.

tough call i guess. i dont like it, but then again it is more realistic.
I don't know what to put here yet.

Realistic? Name one thing in the MA that is realistic. The MA isn't about realism, it's about fun. Frankly everytime I get killed by some random AI fluke I feel cheated and want the time I spent climbing and cruising back.

Do you really prefer human ack? Do you really want to be flying to several mimutes just to be puffed by an oportunistic jumping into a gun in half a second? Havent you seen the text buffer full of player XXX or YYY landed 15 kills in ship or field gun?

AI ack will rarely kill the fun of dozens of players in less than 10 mins.

Just imagine an arena with three average gunners waiting for you at every field or fleet ...

What I find really annoying about the heavy AA is the way it tracks you. In RL the battery gunners would use a mechanical computer to set the trajectory of the guns and fusing of the shells. Now this computer had a significant lag, which coupled with the time of flight of the shells meant there was no way it could track a maneuvering target at range like the AH AA does.

What should happen is that if I'm flying along and get bracketed by AA, a sharp right turn will make the next salvo miss to the left. If I don't make a further course change then the AA should catch me up 30 secs or whatever later. Heavy AA could still be dangerous to bombers flying straight and level on their bombruns, as was the case in RL.

GODO we already HAVE manned flak from CVs (5 inch), and Greebo is absolutly correct.

I would ask for manned ack of no more than 7.7mm (if any).

in "realistic" i meant the immersion of the boom boom boom around. the sound and the puffs.

thats about it i guess LOL. i dont know how many times real life flak batteries went shooting on a lone or pair of fighters at 20,000 feet. didnt they mostly shoot on bomber formations only?
