I am currently looking at several Nvidia based 128MB cards.

I am looking at the MX4000, FX5200, OR MAYBE the FX5600 GForce based cards. (the 5600 is bit pricey for me now)

What is the difference between the MX4000 and FX5200?? is the diff. huge?

Same questions Re. the 5200 and the 5600

Also, anybody know any links for vid. card reviews? I am looking for a site that will give reviews of diff. manufactures (Nvidia based) cards i.e. Gainward, Ledtek, etc, etc. So can see which one has best setup (clock speed etc).

Gonna buy 2morrow, so any help soon would be appreciated.

Lute, Pal! Allow me to enlighten your ars.

FX5200 is better than the MX4000. You can also get the FX5200 in 256MB DDR. How much are you looking to spend. The FX5600 beats them all, but not a HUGE difference between the two FX versions but there is a fairly big difference between the FX and MX. The FX5200 256MB version is 80 bucks. Lemme know how much you are willing to spend and we will find you a great card. ahem, have a nice night

Doing total computer upgrade in 3-4 months anyway, so was looking for a temp. stop gap solution. I found a Gforce FX5200 128MB for 52.00 SHIPPED at http://www.newegg.com. Figured it will work for just now. Saw the FX's had the DX 9 support, and went w/ it.

I'll grab a 256 (or 512 maybe) in few months. I just wanted AH2 to be a bit more playable.

The 256 card is a good one, I've heard that the 128 card's memory is faster than the 256, but I have the 256, and I'm not buying another vid card for a while LOL

Whatever card you get, goto http://www.driverguide.com and get the link to Nvida's website and update the drivers. trust me. You might have to register with driver guide, but it can be worth it for finding drivers from people and manufactures. BTW, its free

what is more recomended for AH2- nvidia or radeon chipset cards?
i heard nvidia doesnt support Dx9, is that true?

allso what will be a nvidia equal to the radeon 9600XT 128mb?

for a few $ more (like 10 or 20), i get a 5800 pr 5900, ud get 3x the preformance over the 5200 for virtually same price.

both makers are good. ATI id go no less then 9600 pro

GF FX's 5800 or 5900 or 6800

Negative I have a NVIDIA FX 5200 Ultra that supports DirectX9 for $115.00. There is even one for nVidia FX 5200 for $80.00 that supports DirectX9.

Far as I know all the new NVida card support direct X 9.o I have the 5200fx and it supports 9.0 perfectly.

FX5200 1st of the "new" Gforce's that support DX9.

DO NOT GET THE 5200!!! Its not good for DX9 games, including AH2

If you cannot afford a GF FX 5700 or something like a Radeon 9600 Pro/XT, then I recomend you save your pennies and wait a while until you can afford it.

The 5200 supports DX9, but barely. Slowly.

A regular Radeon 9600 shouldnt cost much more and will be better.

I warn anyone that buys a 5200 or even 5600 that they will be buying an already obsolete video card.

That would be a GF FX 5800. Performs more or less on par with a Radeon 9600 XT; somewhat slower with FSAA and AF enabled.

I have a standard FX5200. In AH I it stayed around 75fps but in AH II it nearly halfed to 45 fps and lower with lots of smoke. Installed Omega drivers (http://www.omegacorner.com) and back up to 75fps but will drop lots lower with plenty of activity. It's a playable card.

Ideally I would like to upgrade but it's akin to drag racing. To get that extra 10th of a second could cost thousands...where do u stop.

Yeah you save several thousands of dollars over the course of a decade if you are content to stay one or two tiers back from the leading edge in 'puter technology. Btw Intel just rolled out a major step up in cpu design, and ddr2 memory model, so hopefully this will have a ripple effect in lowering prices for all tiers of existing 'puter designs.

slap a 5200fx in THAT and I bet you fps doesn't drop too far

Oh Uh connection? my 5200 FX runs dx9 all the way, Online games are the only ones I have low fps on, Off line I have 75 consistant, so it has to be in the modem, somewhere I don't have something set right. ( gonna work on that )
