I've had a few auto-related close calls.

The worst one was when I hit a big-ass wall doing about 65-70ish in my old car.  Tried to get on an exit to late, blew a tire and started spinning.  Anyone who has ever driven in downtown DC (accident happened at the 295/395 split) knows it is chock full of big-ass concrete walls to run into.  I ended up sideswiping a BMW (boy was he pissed) and spun around 3-4 and 1/4 times before hitting the face of the wall that came up to seperate the two ways you could go.  I was headed right at it till I hit the little curby thing in front of it, that popped me up in the air and spun me around that final 1/4 turn so I hit the wall sideways.  Knocked the rearview mirror off with my head, then starred the window on the backswing.

Had a nasty concussion and a bad case of whiplash (moving my head hurt like hell for like 2 weeks), but other than that I came out OK.

One other one was right after my best friend got his license, we decided to go to the Mall after school.  So we are driving down this two lane road headed towards the highway.  I see this house on the left with about a dozen sports cars parked in front.  I go "Hey, look at that"... he does.  We both look back at the road and yell "OH ****!" at the same time as we pass the house.  The lady in front of us decided to turn right, and did the old "come to a complete stop in the middle of the road before making a right hand turn" thing...  she almost got out of our way.  We ended up clipping her left rear corner with the front right corner on his car, and then we kind of half-spun and skidded between two cars coming the other way.  We ended up parked on the shoulder just about perfectly, facing the opposite way we had been going.  I was like, man.. that was to close.  Then I looked out the side window and there was a whoopee telephone pole about 2 feet away right beside me.  I could have reached out and touched it.  We decided not to go to the mall after all.

Yes to have a major spill on the road but of course had tons on the track as u push it so much harder then on the road. Though I have had alot of scares on the road but a combination of luck and skill have kept me right way up each time.

Of course riding speedway bikes is a different story, unless your coming off your either not pushing hard enough or not agressive enough.

My worst injuries by far have come from speedway bikes. Especially sidecars, those things are beasts and it's not nice hitting a wooden wall wondering whether the 300kg bike and your mate are going to follow the same path.

On second thought... I've been closer to death than I realized.

About 25 years ago, I worked for a crop duster, mixing chemicals for spraying. On the day, I was mixing some form of phosphate insecticide. I don't recall what brand it was. I do recall that I wasn't knowledgeable of it and no one warned me of how hazardous it was. I didn't give it the respect that it deserved and I ended up in intensive care for three days. They carried me into the emergency room. I didn't have the strength to walk and my tongue swelled so much I couldn't talk.

After leaving the hospital, it felt like being drunk for the next month except that it didn't affect my motor skills, just my cognitive skills. I couldn't read. Well, I could read the words, but they were just words. I couldn't put them together and understand the sentence. It was odd.

Anyway... nerve agents aren't a lot of fun.

when yu get your leg ripped off you don't even notice a broken back and you tend to loose a lot of blood quickly.   I stayed concious through the whole thing and heard em "discuss" how badly things were going.

I had no experiance that would qulify as a 'near death' experiance in a mystical sense.   I never felt that I was gonna die either.   Besides... I wanted to live just to prove I could.

Had a horse get loose onto the neighbors land (1500 acres) and when I found her, as I stepped down from my horse, I stepped on the only round rock in phelps county.
I landed flat on my back and my horse shyed a little, but stayed.
As I grapped a strap and started hoisting myself up he blew and the saddle slipped onto his side.....away we went, he drug me down a gravel path to a gate, around a tree, back down the path around an old car sitting on the side of the path, and back towards the gate, around the tree........we did this about 3 times the last I remember was he cut real close to the tree and a root was sticking out it hit me square in the face.....lights out. I woke up flat on my back seeing what looked like a water fountian spraying water. It was the blood spraying out of my nose as I exhaled. I could not breath through my mouth so I reached in and pulled a blood clot the size of a golfball out of my throat.
I flung it, it hit the gate and stuck there. When you are 12 you really don't have a lot to flash before your eyes but as I was being drug I had flashes of things in my short life. They were more like burned into my brain. I did scream whoa until I couldn't hear anything anymore and did get to the point there was no pain. My back looked like hamburger and turned into one big scab.
Its been 35 years and when I go home and go down that road I stop at that gate and look at a blob thats been painted over.
This was my first near death...I've had 4. Lucky me

I had one a few years back...

When it rains at our house the water gets collected under the porch and pools up.  It was sometime in early March, so its still cold at night.  Anyways, it was about 30 degrees and the water was nearly freezing.  So, I climbed under the porch to get the hot water heater working again (we live in an old house home-made so the hot water heater is under the porch) and had to go into about 10-15 inches of near-freezing water.  I spent about 20 minutes down there getting it to work, and I was soaked to the bone in this freezing water.  I crawled out and noticed that I felt very warm and comfortable.  I felt like taking a nap, but then decided I'd better go shower first because I was dirty and wet from the porch.  Luckily, I didn't take that nap because, if you know anyhting about hypothermia, I could have died in my sleep right there.

Not too horrible, but it terrified me after I realized what could've happened.

sandie.. A drunk in a caddy nailed me from an alley while I was stuck in traffic on a Harley.  the caddy bumper pushed the SU through the leg before the bumber and Harley frame snipped off what was left.   (they did put the whle mess back together but some time was needed...)  the impact broke 5 vertibrae... lots of blood loss.  some internal injuries.   but.. I am fairly stubborn.

nother time... had way too many reds in my system and missed the offramp slightly... the shovelhead took out the exit sign on the freeway and busted me up pretty good.  Got some redneck who stopped to help to get the bike up and start it but the front wheel was kinda egg shaped.. made it about a mile to a friends house in town and he took me to the hospital...  ever try to work a throttle with a broken elbow on that hand..

nuther time after a argument in a drug deal found a 45 caliber hole in my shirt that musta been close.

nuther time...
