AH2 wont run
« on: June 18, 2004, 03:07:00 AM »
When I try to activate AH2, I get a message saying "Your video adaptor does not support Hardware T&L.  It will not be able to run AH2".  I have downloaded Direct X 9.0.  I have a Dell Optiplex 170L computer, Pentium 4, with an Intel[R] 82865G graphics controller and an ATI Rage Ultra video chipset/card or something or other (not easy to puzzle out from the Dell web site).  AH1 ran just fine- so why the problem with AH2? I have 512 meg RAM, 3.0 GHz Pentium 4.  Do I need a new video card- if so, what's my options?

You basically answered your own question. If you have downloaded the latest drivers from the name brand website, then your video card does not support T&L and thus will not be able to run AH2.

Good question.  Here in Oz prices are about double  that in the US.  I guess I want something pretty decent but not the rolls royce.  I want AH2 to perform well- can video cards make that much difference? (I know nothing of these dark things)

First off start pressing the "Reply" button instead of "New Post". Lets keep this all consolidated in one neat thread. Do you know your system specs? Vid card does make a huge difference, but you may have , to be forward, a crappy computer.

Maybe most important question is - Do you have an AGP slot?  You may have to look inside the case for the brown slot above the white ones.
