Hardware T&L (Texture and Lighting) ???

"Your Video Adapter does not support Hardware T&L."

I end up receiving this message each time I try and run the AH2 I just installed. I would like to know if im going to need a new video card or is there a way to get around this.  I looked up the “Video adapter” in my help index in xp and it says it has to do w/ my monitor.

Im a moderately new member of AH and have found a nice squad and have enjoyed this game so far. But I don’t see myself going out and perchicing a new V. card on top of the membership fee that I pay currently and the new Logitech joystick I recently bought that has given me my fair share of head acks in itself err.

Your input would be appreciated. thanks

Post your computer specs

What type of video card as well.

depending on the card you may just need to update the drivers.

generally though, if the card doesn't support T&L hardware, you will need a new card.

Reference the joystick.... I wrestled with logitech sticks for too long. My advice to you is to return it (if you still can), and if you can't return it, take it out to the "back 40" and put it out of its misery with a little lead pill.

I use a Saitek cyborg EVO and have been quite happy with it for the last 6 months.

cheers,

EVO has 13 seperate buttons/switches.

It has an 8 way hat switch that you can set your views on (instaed of using the keyboard). It will give you at least 16 different views at the tip of your thumb.

It also has a twist grip for rudder control.

I am not familiar with your particular model of joystick, but can tell you that my experience with logitech has been all bad.

cheers,

'Hardware T&L (texture and lighting) is hardware on the video card to allow a graphics engine to offload some of the work from the CPU.
ATI/NVidia have been building these types of video cards for about 5 years, or longer now.

Intel is about the only new graphic chip on the market without support for it. But it lacks support for quite a few things.'

This is what Skuzzy told me after I had the same problem... I've now got a NVidia 64Meg card which cost me £30 around $50 and I've no troubles playing AH2. But I'd been meaning to get the upgrade for a while.

Well the joystick u use currently is the Logitech extreme 3d pro. It’s a nice looking stick w/ hella buttons to go around for everything. Only problem is it works like I was walking on a sheet of ice. I have a 12 gauge slug w/ its name on it.....

The video card I use is the currently non supported ATI 128 rage ultra and have updated the drivers from ultra to pro. I understand that the CPU needs to be relived of some of the work. But theoretically how much mem. Would I need for the CPU to actually handle the work?

Currently I have

O.S.= Micro. Win. 2000 Pro, Dim. 4300
T. Physical Mem.= 523, 280KB
Avalable Mem.= 346,732 KB
Total Virtual Mem. = 1,404,032KB
Available Mem. 1,054,476 KM

Thanks

Yeah, I can't play AH2 either, I was a big AH1 flier...I have a Intel Video card, but I get the T&L hardware problem too :(, I am really going to miss flying. Is there any upgrade I can get to my Intel Video Card to make it suppose T&L hardware?
