Minor bugs aside, I like AH2 a great deal
« on: June 18, 2004, 02:57:55 PM »
As I said, the few minor bugs I encountered did nothing to dampen the fun I have had with AH2 and the beta. One CDT and some strange behavior in the hanger were insignificant. I have no doubt that most of the common bugs will be resolved within the next week. All those I saw were not present in the final beta update, they showed up with the release patch.

I'm really enjoying the new gunnery model. Since I'm one of those guys who prefers to get in real close anyway, my game play is uneffected. However, the pray and spray crowd need a new novina as they are generally out of business.

I dropped an F6F into a horde of at least a dozen enemy, mostly La-7s, Spits and Nikis. Twisting turning, working up and down for 10 minutes... Not a single ping! LOLOLOL  At one point I had several N1K2s and Spits all firing away at 800 yards.. all for naught. I had to fight my way back to the carrier as fuel was becoming an issue. But it was fun, almost comical to watch the survivors jumping through hoops. I'm sure there are a lot of frustrated players who are used to getting solid hits at 1,000 yards and now find themselves unable to hit a damn thing at 600.

Hey, and what about that new F6F flight model!? If you thought the Hellcat was potent in AH1, it's an absolute monster in AH2.

I also found the 109s to be much improved. I especially like the 109G-6 as it provides a good balance of fire power and handling without resorting to gondolas. It also looks terrific in the Swiss Air Force skin.

It was worth the wait.

Man I need some pointers then, I can't do jack in the F6F anymore, which is sad because it's about all I fly. :)

F6F is a dream until you land and the giant spring in the tail wheel vaults your tail 15 feet straight up and you nose dive your propellor into the tarmac.

I thought that the F6F seemed a bit different, I landed 8 kills in a Hellcat last night, mostly vulches, but still 8 kills, The F6F just seemed to recover e well, and handle nicely.

Vulching is as close to nirvana as one can reach on this earthly vale of tears :D

I never got 8 kills in a sortie with 50s in AH1.

I think it is the new gunnery model, instead of spray n pray at D800, you stick your prop in the bogeys tail and the let him have the whole nine yards.

I think it was Bubbi Hartmann who said he never fired unless he had his whole windscreen full of the enemy plane, and I believe he had over 350 confirmed kills.

Fly close, get closer, and when you think you are too close, get a little closer still, then BAM! :)
