Help - Need 8-Way Stick With TM throttle/rudders
« on: January 10, 2000, 09:18:00 AM »
Hello all,

This past weekend I purchased a TM package consisting of a set of Elite Rudder Pedals, TM Throttle and a TM joystick.

Every thing works fine.  The problem is: I misread/misinterpreted the number of buttons available on the throttle.  I though I was going to get 12 (4 x a three way thumb switch).  Instead I got 6 ( 4 + 2 on the thumb).

The prob is the 4 way hat switch. I really got used to having an 8 way hat switch on a MS digital stick.   Now I've had to program 45 degree views on the throttle and frankly I don't like it.  Well my brain doesn't like it because now I've had to split views between both brain hemispheres and SA suffers.

So is there any 8-way joystick out there that will work with TM Elite rudders and the TM throttle.

Unless Thrustmaster or CH have something new on the sales block (and I would stick to once of these two companies to maintain the level of quality of your throttle and rudders)...

I would reccommend the CH F-16 Fighterstick.

Details on the CH website, but it has a very nice 8 way hat.

Only stick I can think of unless the TM F-22 has a 8 way.

delta,

You can program certain views on the throttle (such as forward, up, and back) which will work in conjunction with a programmed hat switch (which has forward, left, right, and back) to give you all the views you need.  Of course, you'll have to learn to program the throttle and joystick buttons.  I do this with my TM PFCS and my WCS-II and it works fine.  I'm assuming you can program the buttons on your setup, too.

Give me a call, if you have any questions.

F 22 has 4 way hats, but it makes other 4 ways by combination of first 4 swithces. So, in practice it behaves as 8 way hat joystick.

Did I explain it good or do I need an English translator ?

Thanks to all for your advice.

Talking (literally) to buhdman, I didn't come up with an optimum set of choices for the Attack Throttle.

I am going to try out new view combos tonight.

To, Hristo: Nope. Your English is excellant. I wish my French and German were half as good as your English.  Almost same for my Spanish (can't write it).

Wish I could help but Ive flown MS sidewinder nd saitek stuff...but many hats will "combine" views...the diagonal views blend the input of ajacent commands.

I'm still very mixed on my X36 combo because of the rudder being on the throttle as a kind of "toggle" switch BUT easily the most versitle thing out there...got two view hats on stick ..two 4 ways on throttle (can config as 8 way) plus "fire" button (use as wep) and two "rotory" controls..had em set up as trim but switched em to the left, right and up,down pan views instead
