Video res and bigger planes
« on: June 19, 2004, 02:22:57 PM »
After reading another thread, I went ofline and turned the video resolution to 640x480. The planes look like blimps 1000 out. Usually, I find it hard getting the drones at distance 400 (about a 500-550 yard shot). In the low resolution, I can hit them at distance 800 (a 900-950 yard shot). Was AH1 like this??
If it was, I am starting to understand my gunnery woes.

Only the far dot will apear bigger, also the dot size has no effect on shooting what so ever, what you see and how the game does hit caculations are not related.

Yea I took it up for a few today in low res - 640x480.
I did note (and lord knows it could be psychological) it was easier to get "tags" at 600 - not killing shots but hits that might make them turn. I also noted it helped nothing inside of 400 - after then a plane just looks like a plane. I don't think its a panacea for bad gunnery. On the upside - reading names to give a quick alert to, was easier - bigger fonts.

I also noted the icon counter has reverted to counting down yardage. Personaly, I hope this is temporary until most users get used to the other aspects of AH2. I did like the icon margins (200, 400, 600 etc.) and hope it will return to that in the future. I mean without having to judge any distance - why have the circle around the dot on the gunsight?

TY
