). To tell the truth I hadn't heard that the Brits had used the 'pig's blood' thing on the Northwest Frontier, although it wouldn't surprise me. I do remember reading in some history book somewhere that when the Brits caught a Pathan on the North West frontier, they would spread him eagled in the parade ground and every soldier passing him was obliged to kick him in the 'Punjabs' as hard as he could. The Pathans would emasculate Brit corpses and put their bits in their mouths. It was all pretty horrible out there.
They say that part of the reason for the Indian mutiny was the paper cartridges that the sepoys (the Indians serving in the British aka East India Company army) were greased with cow's fat, but I think that was only a tiny contributory reason and got a lot of coverage because it made a good story.
