HiTech..Good Idea for Immersion
« on: June 21, 2004, 07:27:44 AM »
Ok..here's a simple easy idea to add a lot of Immersion:  one thing that makes AH great is its native VOX.  Ok...its great but its sounds like ...well ....VOX.  HiTech, put those sounds and voices through an effects filter and make it sound like real WWII era radio chatter.  Hell, make it sound like contemperary ATC chatter.  It would be sweet.

Idea II:  Vibrations.  EAW has got them and Il2 has got em...why not AHII.  I would think that these WWII birds would vibrate a hell of a lot (I think this has been talked about).

The biggest thing that seperates AH2 from real life is the vibrations.  On a seemingly calm day, I took off in a 1970s model low wing gruman 4-seater.  Boy if that thing would have had a gunsight in it, I would have had trouble even looking through it.

But IMO, theres no realistic way to implement vibrations and turbulence into AH2.  Many years down the road when everyone is using a scale cockpit hooked to hydraulic lifts, well maybe then it can be done.

wwiiol has vibrations. If they can do it, so can ah.

it does add alot of immersion. The way your plane bounces around on the ground and in the air makes me feel like I am in the cockpit of a aircraft, which for some reason is something I don't get in ah.

it doesn't matter....  your eyeballs have built in shock absorbers, so even tho' your *body* may feel the vibrations, your eyes adjust to it naturally.

mmmmkay?

I've always lliked the idea about radio chatter.

It'd be so cool if the "beep" sound is replaced by the "*skkkrk!*" sound...
