50 cal guns convergence
« on: June 21, 2004, 07:20:48 PM »
In AH, I set the guns convergence for 50 cals at 400 yards.

In AH2, I have set the convergence for 50 cals at 300 yds.

I was wondering if 250 yards would be better?  I find most of my shooting is in the 150 to 300 yard ranges now.  Luvin' the new gunnery model :)

Comments advice would be appreciated.

I've actually left my convergence the same.

...and I'm with you, lovin' the new model.  Still getting used to it, but I like the change.

As I recall, with U.S. fighters such as P51, pilots had a choice of 300 or 250 yard harmonization. I've been using 300 on my .50 cal rides, but am going to try 250 to see if that is better, since I am shooting in closer in AHII. (I'll leave my P47s at 300 - better for strafing).  Years ago someone in AH calculated the the best compromise for .50s, taking dispersion into account, was 240 yards.  Don't know if this is still relevant.

250 yards seems to be working much better.

I was practicing off line and the 250 yards was pretty lethal.  On line it seems to work better than 300, although that may just be a perception, but if you can hold the shots on a wing for just a second the wing will often come off.

Still harder to rip off a bogeys wing than AH1, and I like it that way :)
