Thanks for the advice and kind words, all.
I took a shower this morning, being very careful to keep water from running down my face. Head tilted back the whole time. No pain, except from the cold water (hot opens the pores and can re-trigger the stuff). I wasn't wearing my contacts at the time of the spraying, and put them in the next day around noon with no discomfort. All is well now, although I've had intermittent headaches for the last day.
The reason behind the spraying, we were told, is so that we aren't as surprised the first time we're sprayed with it on duty and know we can fight on. As an added bonus, if you're ever asked in court if you've ever experienced it, you can say that you know exactly what you were doing to the poor sap on the other end of that stream.
The academy only planned to only swab us under the eyes with the stuff, but being the foolhardy toughguys and gals that we are, we asked to take a spray instead. Might as well feel it full force, right? How bad could it possibly be?

Interestingly, we're the first class in the 6-year history of the academy that's ever asked to be sprayed.
The taser is coming sometime next month.
